My advice? Take new pics or crop the background at the least.

If it's an automatic thing then you can change a pixel or two or use an image editor and mirror the image, rotate it, etc.

I don't know if any programs will automatically rename a list of files with the push of a button, but this would be a valuable tool...
If you like the hosting sites that's fine, just be sure to keep a backup in case something happens with the site or they suddenly become friendly with ebay. I would say hosting your own pics is the ideal solution. You might pay somewhere around $5-10 a month for a hosting package, plus around $5 a year for a domain. If the ebay id gets bumped, set that domain aside and get a new one. This costs around the same or less than a lot of paid picture hosting services out there and you may get additional use of the service.

QUestion, if you simply download a "Screen Shot" Program and retake the same photo using the application, will the same image data remain? For example, you open the Photo you want, Retake the Photo (same size, or crop the image) and then Resave it -- Will the Screen Shot program you use to retake the same photo keep the data? Or it will count as a brand new image with entirely new data?

^^^ I thought the same thing recently as well.
I tested it by taking a screenshot of a copyright image that contained a lot of data. The screenshot I took had hardly any data compared to the copyright image.
Lets see what someone else says.

if only a few people strip the meta data from the photo, these photos will be a small minority, won't ebay notice this? surely it will support account linking?
if you upload to something like image hack, the hyper link would be different every time if you only used fresh pictures. Can they trace the meta data in a pic that already been uploaded to an image uploader?

^ Yes they can/will still contain the meta data when uploading to an image hosting site.
Not all images have meta data, so this will be true with a lot of images being used on eBay.

ok I see thanks, so if I just upload my own fresh images from my own computer, as long as I never use the same image twice I should be ok right? or can they really link you through meta data alone.. surely not

I just take screenshots of my photos, as suggested by someone in this thread, it takes a matter of seconds per image and contains minimal meta data.

B) This is part of A as well, I basically mean here that again do not try to host your only gallery image, eBay can track that. But images within your auctions, say you have a button that says instant delivery… these are okay for you to host from a host of yours, if you choose to do so. Either way you can choose to host your self or have eBay host the images for the DESCRIPTION part of the auction.
The main thing is don't host your own gallery image (miniature photo of the image you have of your auction). Everything else is fine.
Don't try to over think it, it's simple.
:D | Hi

I is better to upload pictures directly to ebay, and always use new pictures, if possible. Everything else can be an issue if you mess it up, and you will, only time is the matter.

Hi aspkin I'm going to move to a dedicated host,
I am currently using a normal host not dedicated but its very slow and buyer started to complaint they cannot see images from my listing description from this post I use the same host same URL image on multiple eBay user no problem so far but now, I have to move to a dedicated host.
is it safe to use same dedicated host same url to host logos and images in the description on multiple IDs? only in description
for example:
FOR ID 1: www.examplesite.com/ebayuserid1/listingimage
FOR ID 2: www.examplesite.com/ebayuserid2/listingimage
Was going to try but haven't figure this out

Never ever upload same pics. They store hash numbers of all pictures, so can easily link them. Apply minor modifications, like resizing, changing contrast, color balance, and it should be fine. But the best would be to take new images.

Did some searches on the forum about the photos linking, but did not find anywhere anyone talking that Auctiva automatically removes the Metadata from the photos. So if you use Auctiva for creating listings, and if you intend to reuse the same photos, so just download them from your auctiva image folders and maybe crop them a little, maybe change the orientation etc. And you are good to go. No need for separately installing any app for metadata deletion if you use auctiva.
By the way, correct me if in case i am wrong

I strip the metadata off all my photo's just in case.
It's a good pre caution.
If it's not too much work, take new pictures, with a new background, or rescan everything, maybe changing the exposiure settings a little bit so the colors come out a little different.
That or crop the borders of the photo out, add your own lettering or logo to the picture....
