Please help me change my IP Address

Hi I currently have COX internet and have a netgear router. I have tried several times to change my IP Address following instructions and it has not been successful. I am not sure why my IP address will not change and wondering if anyone here could please help me through this process.

Did you actively turn off your modem, wait a minute, then back on with IPBurger to check?

Which method have you tried to acquire a new IP?

What model router and modem do you have?

I read up on Cox Communications and how they assign IP's...

COX uses a DHCP scheme where DHCP is used to provide a static address which is provisioned based on the MAC address.

If this is the case, then it would be very rare for your IP to change. OP may have to use other means such as dongles or tethering.

Just need to using T-MAC and it good to go

I had to unplug my modem and my router. Apparently every time I changed my address it didn't work because my modem has a backup battery in it. so had to take the battery out. was a pain.

Take out the backup battery...geez - start looking at dongles and cellphone tethering
