I don't have this issue if I have another device connected to it. I have 4 devices connected to my hotspot and I have noticed starting last night the sudden changing of IP while listing on eB, if I catch it I will just close out the browser, log the IP in excel even if i'm not sure and keep ip chicken open in another tab on another computer and what a nightmare!
Today I have 4 devices connected and I watched it change 6 times with 2 minutes, why does this happen? But yet if I want to change it myself, taking battery out, off for an hour, same IP what a mess. It's like IP roulette |
The complete step-by-step guide to get back to selling today!

I think I figured it out. My time is off. I'm betting that if the clock on the computer is wrong, this will happen.
Back to Bingo on the excel chart..

I Haven't found any reason for why my ip keeps changing like crazy, I mean it keeps changing to different ip's less than every 2 minutes!!
I have switched devices I have 2 of the same model and it is still happening.

What device, what network? Is there a timer/power saver for the screen or the device?
You said it doesn't do it when multiple devices are connected. So, do that until you can figure out the issue. We need more information here so start typing.

I said tmo for tmoble. And having more devices connected at the same time use to work for me before. Now no matter how many devices are connected, 2 laptops, a phone and my network printer, its changing like crazy like a ip changer software or something. Thats what imma dig for look at all the programs and apps on both pc's and phone..
Also, the title says ..'while logged on ebay it happens', but this happens on any site, anytime I am connect to the hotspot, regardless to the number of devices are connected to the hotspot.
Thanks, unknown!

Can you tell me what model you have as well? Also, is this only happening in one place? Or have you moved around town and tested difference locations?
Second, login to the router and see if you have the option to force it to use 3G only, not LTE or 4G. If not, force it off of LTE at least.

MF61 - Not the LTE model. This is the 4G model. settings were always set to 'best available network' so i switched it to '4g only' - haven't moved around its been same spot always 4-5 bars, (I found out a trick by the way: The little hole where an external antenna plugs into it on the side, and all devices have one, stuck a wire inside the hole hanging out, wire only 1" long = 5 bars strong every in house and out, it increases the signal big time)
Imma move it to another spot in the house though ya never know, then I'll report back.

I was about to open a thread when i saw this.
I have the same issue. Mine is a 3G hotspot
device which I purchased on eBay. It works with
Verizon antennas. It sometime keeps the same ip
for hours, but in other cases it changed it self every 3-4
seconds until it settled on the same ip for a while. I kept
refreshing IPBurger.com every few minutes to, but i obviously
missed some ips, and that is a pain an time consuming.
I tried to look for a software online that would automatically
track all the ips and save them, but was not able to find one.
Verizon has large ip pool, but still... Any suggestions?

I think unknown was on to something when he mentioned the device switching from 4G to 3G to other broadbands..
Personally I have not notice to change my IP at times but maybe with the devices you guys are using it's switching? Next time it happens watch if your broadband switches from 3G to something else.

Just connect another WiFi device, a smartphone with IP tracker application running on it and just make sure the device is set to automatically sync in background. You can create any gmail account on android phones just for that purpose so it has an acct to sync to. If no sync and data activity is halted for too long then the IP addresses may release.
Same business with voice networks analog and digital lines. Hang up the phone and that line is now available for use. Well sorta.

The connection drops with no activity? There has to be an option within router settings to disable this.

I think the networks are setup in a way , think QOS in a way, according to traffic rates and the number of subscribers are active and well, wireless people tend to move around and their are only so many slots available in say perimeter and ip 's get released and exchanged but really I'm not sure just guessing it has something to do with towers and available lines, speed, populated traffic..
Also, a signal meter between 1-3 bars or just a bad spot is all it takes for the wireless router to hunt in and out of any signal. eB sells external antennas for cheap, too. But with my WiFi printer, windows phone and android phone, about 4-5 devices ( none linked to any eB/pp acct for safety) and a portable travel router piggybackin/repeating the hotspot network, shid, its almost dufficult to release a IP so, heck I use it as long as I can but, a sudden change of an IP thats used for days and gets changed, just mayyy, and I mean their is always a chance, depending how the user runs such acct and everything matters from logins per day to everything else that happens out of our control even , just be careful and steady and try and keep all 5 bars for a string connection and second device connected. I'll wait next day before next log in attempt if my cellular network activity acts stuck up.

Try streaming music when you get a connection and continue to work, then report back.
When there is inactivity and there is demand, your connection can be dropped and your IP address given to another customer. This is common in a Metropolitan area.
QoS is only needed for shaping, policing and control, has nothing to do with IPs. When you experience slow speeds some time, then yes, QoS maybe in use.

Pick the lowest kps rate before streaming music or kaching time for more data passes!
That's right for QoS..I used it as a sloppy example of network control haa
