who has experience in this ?
etsy does 90 day holds on 75% of your money when you are new seller
they hold it for 45 day and every sale made withing 90 day period will be held for 45 days
but someone told me when you upload tracking number it works like paypal did
they unlock hold after item arrives at the destinacion

what did you sell?
They are taking their fees from your sales proceeds,Etsy is not like Paypal.
You can go to Etsy seller forum and ask, tracking is for your protection

I saw the email about the new hold policy. I'm still on pp only and will milk it all I can. Hopefully they can hurry up with their PayPal only updates. @Georgian did you manage to stealth with payoneer?

I have an etsy store and I know many who have etsy stores, most do not have such hold, whether they open one recently or not,no one would put up wiith a payment processor which hold your money for so long.
This sounds more like rolling reserve, does Etsy do credit checking now?

OP is right, this is a new Etsy policy to prevent fraud. They have too many sellers on the platform anyway, so why not?
Same goes with Amazon, if you're selling from EU to US seller fulfilled items, due to long shipping you're getting your funds every 1.5 months. That's nothing new. Or in about 2 weeks if you're selling in US domestically.
That's how they're preventing from fraudulent new sellers.

I will just ditch the idea of Etsy shop and find another sales venue or have your own website

This appears to be happening on new successful shops regardless of items being sold and if the info is legit or stealth. I´m still working on some thing but it would seem that as of now the same rules that applied to Ebay and Paypal will have t be applied to Etsy in terms of moving slowly and warming up accounts. First few sales will go through but hit 5 or 6 in a week and they throttle you. 75% plus their marketplace % and processing fees so its really about 83%
I´ll have my first reserve payment item delivered this week so I´ll report back to you guys if they release the funds after delivery but they did not release the funds upon uploading tracking info. Probably time to start checking out other platforms if you are a new seller. 25% is doable but 75% over 45 days... Not worth it.

One of my stores is being hit by the 45 day menace. Screw em, I've moved to amazon already. Have a clean slate there too.

thanks! | I´m going to try to give the most comprehensive answer I can here. This will be a bit long winded and I might miss a few things so bare with me. Also if you are a Etsy seller who only sells and ships domestically with USPS/UPS/FedEx the new reserve will more then likely be a 2 or 3 day annoyance so you can skip reading the rest.
I run a store that´s structured a bit differently then most Etsy stores as my wife and I own a tannery and workshop in Brazil a workshop and boutique in the USA a workshop and warehouse in Sharjha UAE, a workshop in Thailand and an office in the Netherlands. We also have access to materials and production partners in various locations. Etsy is not in the demographic that our brand exists in and we set out to use the platform to market and sell the items that don´t fit or we just don´t want to sell under our brand name in our online store. We already have our own logistics solutions set up as not all of our products are produced at every facility. For example we sell tons of Cowhide carpets in Europe and the middle east. All of those carpets are shipped from Sao Paulo to our facility in the UAE. B2C orders from Europe/Middle East and Asia of that product are fulfilled from that location. Using Etsy shipping and labels increases our cost without decreasing transit time. This is where the problem with the new Etsy hold policy comes in.
Last week we shipped multiple Etsy orders to locations outside the USA. An order we shipped to the U.K. using Hermes and a second order who´s final leg was handled by Royal Mail will be held the full 45 days even though they´ve been delivered and positive feedback received because those mail systems don´t report parcel location and status to the system Etsy has in place. Results for an order that went to Switzerland via DHL were the same. Alternatively payment from an order that went from Sao Paulo to the USA who´s last leg was conducted via USPS was released once USPS showed the parcel in transit in their system.
All of our orders that were shipped within the USA using USPS had the payment hold released early with varying timing (one test shipment using Etsy label was released once scanned at the post office other using the same shipping methods but our own labels were not released as quickly) which is what makes me weary about continuing to use the platform while the holds are in place. Funds releasing early is dependent on their system being able to receive status updates from the shipping company. If something changes on either end and their system can´t receive updates and funds are held for 45 days with no recourse.
For sellers who are using production partners outside the USA and shipping via international freight agents pay close attention to who´s handling the last leg of delivery. Although there are multiple options and carriers available in their system I wouldn´t trust the system to report accurately outside of USPS/UPS/FedEx.
Also, if your store is new; IP, SSN, EIN, product category, store policies, shipping/handling time, listing photos etc doesn´t matter. You are going to get hit with the reserve as soon as your sales hit a certain threshold.

Just a reminder on Esty seller protection-
I have a shipment going to Netherland 6 months ago, using Etsy shipment labeled as 'Other'.
Buyer waited patiently ,tracking stopped in France,Etsy has no better way to find out what happens, just keep referring to tracking?
I finally decided to refund my buyer and I have to point out to the Etsy rep what their seller policy for overseas sales stated, that as long as we can prove we have shipped,Etsy will issue a refund out of its pocket, not the seller.

It happens to new sellers who reach a certain thresh hold or frequency of sales. Once you buy a shipping label via etizy and it links the tracking it releases the money within 24 hrs. Anything else - it holds it.
