Absolutely loads of alibaba tat on there now which on the surface of it will drive traffic there but that brings ebayesque issues they've decided they don't want, the biggest problems being crappy re-sellers migrating there because ebay has toughened up and dropshippers.
I sell 'hand made' on Etsy and TBH if they do decide to kick off the Chinese **** then I for one would be very happy. The amount of antique and hand made jewellery fresh from Ali-Baba is just unbelievable

first ,it is the US Etsy sellers who were selling Alibaba stuff, then the Chinese get tired of being their suppliers and start selling as well.
Chinese sellers have the advantage of offering free shipping and whatever they make in US $,it converts to 6 X Chinese $$,enough to buy a bowl of noodles !

Yep, I've been saying this for a while. Whenever I go o Etsy looking for clothing stuff it's flooded with Chinese crap.
not all genuine handmade goods sell well, when money is easy, buyers would buy a handmade clock made of rusty bent metal ,or decorated masks handmade or decorative drinking straws and now with 7% inflation, they would buy gold instead or or your slightly used designer handbag, shoes and boots at deep discount
