I'm pretty sure any one of the 4 would have equated to a trip to jail in my state. That's why your story seemed implausible to me. They got into a wreck, had none of the things required for a legal vehicle, and the cop just let them leave? :suspicious:

And yeah I guess that would have been enough to get them bonded out of jail but personal injury litigation tends to take several months before anybody gets paid. :juggle:

yes,I recall they just left and the cop gave me a ticket.
One of them did mumble something about her neck and her back,so I guess thats precursor to whiplash,all I know is they got $40k from my insurer.
May be it was 30k ,either her driver license or license plate of her car has expired or both,it was 15 years ago !
do they check her insurance card,you can drive without insurance,

That's correct. I myself had to pay up because of an Abmahnung (Cease and desist letter). However, shielding yourself from such letters is fairly easy when selling online, eBay even has a program called "Abmahnschutz", which is being offered with store-subscriptions.


In every country where there is a platform for litigation, businesses will go after each other. The acuity of the lawsuit situation in Germany is nowhere near that of the U.S.

then what is the purpose of 'uninsured motorist coverage'?
When I was in LA,I swear some folks drive without insurance .
In TX,it expects you to have state inspection sticker which cost $35? ,some drivers will leave the expired one in the windshield until they are caught,some will take it from a car ready to be scrapped or steal it from another car .
It is not they cant afford the $35,it is just their car cant pass the test.

It is good money if you win(USA),someone was trying to sell his house in a deteriorating neighborhood and the potential buyers will say,when I win the lawsuit,I will be able to buy your house !

To cover you if you get in a wreck you aren't faulted for and the other party is driving without insurance. Their insurance company would be expected to pay for the damage on your vehicle, but since they don't have insurance and probably don't have any money, your own insurance company helps get you back on the road. ;)

State inspections are purely a money grab by big brother. Police say it reduces car accidents on the highway. While true, on the other hand, of states with the lowest number of accidents the top states dont require inspections. $35 per car is a couple million.

well,in my state,we have many immigrants,legal or illegal,some of the cars should not really be on the road.
Like it does not honk,windshield wipers do not work,tires should have been replaced,turn signals ,oil leak etc etc.
but I agree,$35 is good money for the state/city goverment.

College is free in Germany, students pay around 300$ per semester and they get to use public transportation inside their state for free. However, to get into law or med school, you need to graduate high school with some decent grades.

Long before this crisis,Venezuelan in Venezuela will import tires deem unfit from USA,so they can drive on the road.
Now they dont have to worry,they have no gas .

Once I was in a car repair shop to fix my car,and there is this couple there,they have a relatively new car and it was wrecked badly,they have a choice,to fix the car or take the insurance money which comes to over $10k?
Cant recall how it is done,get some minor stuff done and split the check with the repair shop?Is that fraud?
or may be pay the shop a small sum and take the rest,repair nothing .
I am sure there are still car payments to be made,but they have no intention of making them,just take the proceeds to buy another car or go on vacation?

Interesting that Whiplash is still a big claim in the US.

It's the biggest in the UK too but in recent years payout for those claims has gone from 85% down to around 1 in 4... through medical intervention and claim withdrawals. It's really been clamped down on. Insurance companies here these days, if there's any doubt, will apply legal pressure on the claimant (threat or actual action).

Whiplash, Slip & Fall, etc. These claims are epic in the legal world.

The most predatory type of attorney are those who litigate some types of personal injury cases; primarily practice in the area known as tort law.

Not to say that all personal injury lawyers are crooked. I am just saying many times the FACTS in many claims can be skewed as such to get an easy payday. In some circles they are referred to as "Ambulance Chasers".

There is a big reason you see so many of those "INJURED? AUTO ACCIDENT?" billboards all over the place. There is potentially some serious money in these types of cases.

In regards to the estate protecting individual, personal wealth.. You cannot assume an estate is guaranteed protection. What circumstances might warrant plaintiffs coming after the estate? Look at the J. Epstein situation right now. Victims are going after the estate right now.

There are some forms of structure which can protect assets. I'm sure someone as high profile as Epstein employed such protections. Set up properly, Trusts, Foundations, and Foreign IBC's can make it nearly impossible to access assets/money in them.

A good example is the jurisdictions of Nevis & St. Kitts or Cook Islands. Once assets are there, it's quite doubtful you will be successful to bring a valid claim, even if you knew it existed at all.
