In the US we have medicare but not everyone is covered under that, usually just the elderly or very poor? Not sure.

You need private insurance if you don't want to go bankrupt by outrageous health costs we have here. That or don't get sick.

Individual costs depend on your age and current health.. I pay about $250/mo for just me.

Every year it increases a little bit but it's not that bad. I'm still young and pretty fit.

It's not a good system. It's corrupt as ****. Take care of yourself in America or pay the price.

Here are the facts:

Everyone in the USA already is covered by healthcare, even if they are homeless and don't have a penny to their name.

It's called Medicaid, and each state has their own programs on top of that.

I had a close friend who lost his job and didn't have any savings. He was involved in a severe car accident in Nevada; the state and Medicaid picked up nearly 100% of the tab to the tune of about $87,000.

There is a lot of debate about medical care in the USA, but reality is that everyone is already covered at the taxpayers expense, like it or not.

Makes me wonder why anybody is paying extortion rates to private insurance companies.

I guess if you're getting insurance through your job that's one thing.. but even then I'd rather just have the extra $ in my check. Not worth having 20% of my paycheck held back so I can have my teeth whitened 4x a year. lol.

It is not that simple,like skip private insurance and let the state takes care of you with tax payer money.
If it is that easy,then why are the politicians always carping how to reform healthcare,this topic always come up with each presidential election.
Charity Hospital in New Orleans ,I dont know if they have rebuilt after Katrina,but back then everyone knows if you dont have insurance ,you go there and register in the morning,and come back the next day ,unless it is an emergency,you are not going to be seen the same day.
Those who are on Medicaid do not get the best treatment and the best doctors,even Medicare patients,some doctors will say we will only treat our existing patients who are now on Medicare,no new Medicare patients.
If they have a good business,time is better spent treating patients with private insurance,the reimbursement from the government does not cover all the paperwork and overhead .
Some will take Medicaid patients,a friend of mine who worked for her husband who is an OB.GYNE explained to me one day,the women who are on Medicaid came to us for an exam,usually have more complications,we dont make any from office visit and pepsmear,but usually they need more like biopsy,MRI ,surgery ,so it is worth our time to see these patients.

Medicaid is for low or no income people. Im assuming everyone here has an income so we would not be covered for Medicaid

healthcare in usa is such a joke. I had private insurance a few years ago, it was about $800 a month for single. I went a few years without, and yes its true they ****ing tax you on that.

Although I hate it, I work at home depot and went full time. I am getting health insurance this year, it will be about $140 a month. Cheaper then paying the fine.


And about auto insurance, you have limits just like anything else. I had my limit set at 10k max then my own health care would kick in when I had it. Auto insurance is not health care!

Look into a part time job that has health benefits.

Sorry, I was thinking of when I had part time benefits. That was cheaper then the fine but the max payout was like 1k lol.

I think our cost of living is lower,food and staples are cheaper.
I was in Birmingham once,when we emerged from the airport and several cabbies looked at us ,they dress WELL and their cars are small,4 of us share one to 3 different hotels,our split bill comes to US$14. EACH.
