Re: Is winning 25k playing poker a lot?

A lot of it has to do with skill level, especially when you are talking about poker or blackjack.

The house edge in blackjack is around 0.5% if you use basic strategy. Of course, that 0.5% can go up or down based on your skill level. In fact, some "advantage players" can get it down even further with a few techniques that may or may NOT be welcomed by the casino! Card counting, or edge sorting comes to mind among other things. Those "things" can get you kicked out if you are caught.

I don't think its unrealistic to make a modest living playing poker. You just need a LOT of discipline, and dedicate a LOT of time to it to negate any down swings and let the 'luck' element even itself out over time (oh, and be good at it, of course)

I'm interested in reading up on your exploits :)

I used to help my dad learn his systems when I was little... 35 years ago, or more.

I remember him recalling an entire deck back to me, after I showed him each card... card after card. I don't have that kind of devotion to learn something like that! Nor do I care to play cards with someone that does.

Re: Is winning 25k playing poker a lot?

Just smile, I play a game theory style first and foremost, and then I’ll adjust play to make exploits during sessions.

I must emphasize how game theory optimal play is so important. Once GTO is understood, you play with a surreal sense of confidence because you know you are making the +EV play, and thus you could care less the actual outcome of an individual hand.

My best exploit is to watch opponents hands over time while playing with them. I can then classify a player as “loose” or “tight” and that will help me define the range of holdings against an opponent, and ultimately make the best decisions during hands.

An example of this is when you have KK and run into AA preflop. While it is a “cooler”, I can make folds if I know the opponent’s preflop 4-bet range is only KK+. I have folded KK many times preflop and known it to be the right play. I should also add I rarely fold KK preflop.

Another good exploit is known as “baluga theorem”. Essentially, this theorem
says if you bet the turn with top pair and get raised, you should probably fold. Against tight players, USE this exploit 100% of the time. Against good players, you must revert strategy back to game theory. Against aggressive players, you should probably call.

Improving your mental discipline game is also what I consider to be an exploit. While
You have learned to control losing chips due to tilt, our opponents will not have. As a result, when you notice an opponent is on tilt, you will know to get in a hand because he/she will not be at her best.

Yes, skills and luck decide, but if it is an honest casino. The fact is that most casinos are real scammers and they do everything to get your money. Therefore, I recommend playing only at trusted and licensed casinos, like norgescasino.com/ . I have been playing here for a long time and have earned a lot of money and now I can buy a lot about what I dreamed earlier. I hope you will succeed too!

Aside from that 2.5yrs is a long time and you could have made that amount working at McDonalds without any risk.

EDIT: Or, AT LEAST, take the $25k you've made and set it aside, then start with $100 again and see if you can make $25k again.

It would take him 4 yrs at $500 take home monthly to reach 25k working at McDonald's. A part time Target worker would take 6 yrs to reach $25,000. I'd take the gambling risk lol.

$25k from 2019 poker is very good.

I used to play for a living around 2007-2012 online. Games were so good back then.

Seems pretty dead these days

Does stock picking qualify as gambling?
US Petrobras shareholders just got their check today, they won a suit against PBR -during the carwash scandal,if you have paid more than $3.50/share for PBR ,you are entitled to share the billions dollars settlement, does not matter if you sold it later at a gain or break even.

we shall see how much wealth (-wealth) Uber generates next week!

I just watched Havanna,ROBERT Redford played a gambler, then I watched Sting,21 and Rainman and Casino.
Gambling is addictive.

So,TSLA is tanking down 22 points!

I think it is beautiful, and the price is right,I guess beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.
Many bought the stock expecting a big run up on Friday.

most gamblers lose money, thats how casinos manage to stay open, pay their bills and turn a profit.
Some do win,but they follow their rules ,you have to be very disciplined.
Someone once told me he read a book on how t o win poker,he followed the rules to the T and won,but when it said get up and leave,he decides to stay and keep playing! you know the rest.
Once I was at Caesar Palace and found a $25 token on the floor,I cashed it so I guess I WON !
Then I decided to keep looking for more tokens on the floor, there is a guy assigned to watch gamblers and my behavior caught his attention !

if you view it as a waste of your time and you no longer enjoy the game, then why ask us?
why not just quit and do something else with your time-darning old socks, gardening or serve at soup kitchen?
Some folks love to go to the casinos, they like the lights, the noise, the decor, food, drinks and women, some just go to eat !or watch a show or watch others make fool of themselves losing $$

stocks are on sale now,DJ Industrial dropped 1473 points !

Stock picking is a different process since there is more data available and wealth is generated as opposed to pure gambling

I will say the same thing - it IS possible, but you should spend a lot of time in this game. You need discipline and patience, because at first you will loose very often. I am playing poker for 5 years, and now I can really make for a living on poker. But, before I learned it, I have lost a big sum of money. Think twice before starting a poker "career".

Yes, my friend you are right, in a casino you really do not like using strategies to win, but if you are a great poker or blackjack player, then you can use the same strategies in an online casino when playing with real people. For example, I tried to use my bluffing technique in a casino several times and they kicked me out and then I started playing
making bitcoin playing games. I played the same poker, but I bet not on dollars but on bitcoins and could win about 6000 bucks in a month . So it’s better to play in an online casino so that you are not kicked out for special techniques.

Just punted off a stack unnecessarily at casino, pisses me off but it’s a rare leak and I was in a good upswing beforehand. I do not enjoy poker, I just need the money. I made $1400 last week playing. Gotta work on my mental game.
