Because they pay for your gas and they don't want to have to pay you for a 100 mile delivery. Gas price = postage price for Amazon in this setup.
But yeah, they've been doing this in my area for a while. I never answer the door for those drivers because I never recognize them as delivery drivers. I usually think they are Jehovah's Witnesses or something trying to brainwash me with religious propaganda, so I usually just watch them throw our packages on the porch from the CCTV. Amazon's "freelance drivers" are the worst about mishandling packages, by the way.
I almost shot a 6'6" black dude in a hoodie one night. Standing on my sidewalk. Delivering a package at 9PM with no semblance of Amazon coming from his car.
Heard a noise, grabbed my gun, walked outside, came nearly face-to-face with this phucker.
If they haven't, they better get some lit-up amazon signs on those cars for night-time deliveries!
Some of these drivers dont just work for AMZN,they have UBER,LYFT,AMZN apps on their phones,so they would not be wearing any AMZN uniform.
Years ago,in NEW Orleans,a Japanese teenager attending school here dressed up for Halloween trick and treat,while walking towards a house,the owner shot him dead when he cried Freeze and the kid did not understand what Freeze means.
His father flew in from Japan to take his body home.
