That was just one of those things that was never true shorts don’t expire they just have to pay the interest rate on the shorts that they have so long as they pay the interest rate and any margin calls then it can stay open indefinitely. As the price increases the short interest will also increase

shorts do not expire,canbe closed if the short sellers want to close his position or forced to close if he gets a margin call he cannot meet.
But Friday is option expiration date,those who have sold their calls and collect a premium now have to come up with the shares to be delivered to the buyers of these call options who now want their shares.
as for silver,the robinhood and like traders are suggesting silver is a good place to invest,as gold moves,so does silver.
