Default Items sent from UK to Europe being returned

Hi Guys,

i send a lot of large letters to Europe. Items I sent on Friday have been returned to me today. The CN22 was completed as always. There is no reason stated on the envelope as to why the item was returned. It can't of even left the UK.

Has anyone else had this post Brexit?

Thanks

Brexit rules are really messing everything up.

I haven't had anything returned but I have a Parcelforce Europriority with a thousand pound phone in it stuck on a container somewhere waiting to be delivered to Poland for over a month. Usually it takes a week or a week and half tops pre-covid.

CN22 are now not to be used, they have been replaced with CN22A or CN23. They must be completely completed, value, weight etc.

Yes that’s good for non tracked/signed items, did you put a value on? And ticked one of the boxes gift, sale of goods etc?

CN22 is still the name of the form, its merely now split into two options, CN22A or CN22B depending on whether you send it tracked/signed or economy. whichever you choose its still headed 'CN22'.
CN23, used for goods over £270 in value, also remains unchanged.

I'm sure you're doing it correctly but here's their guide? Would they return goods if you fail to use all BLOCK CAPITALS citing it being not readable by a computer?

Yep, filled in exactly the same as I've done for all items this year.

I've done it exactly as it states mate.

Does anyone know if they check the senders details from the CN22B form?

Not sure then, sorry, I’m a post office manager and we have been advised by Royal Mail they must all be filled in correctly or they will be return to sender. They have got very much stricter this year, like put NCV or no value on items is not acceptable anymore.

Been using my stealth made up phantom address for over 2 years with no issues unless it's very expensive.

If any items go missing (which they rarely do) I just eat the loss.

I don't think this is a mere misfortune, as you have more than one return.

Is it possible there is missing or invalid information on your packets? If this is not the case, then they're most likely illegible. If the data on your form can't be collected and sent (as Electronic Customs Data), to your destination country in advance, your items will be returned to you.

You can evade this little trouble by using the same data from your eBay sales CSV to automatically populate and print out your customs declaration form at the same time you print your labels. You can store your signature in a Jpeg file so all your forms are auto-signed for you.

You can do this using MS Mail merge. If you're like Robin Hood and would like to save your customers some ££, all the fill are editable before you print.

Search YouTube for mail-merge tutorial. It takes minutes to setup. You only need a sample CSV from eBay to pull all the header information and you're set.

Do you put your Eori number on the customs form?

Do you always check for an Eori number?

No the majority of the items I sell are low value with small margins so it's declared 99p gift / sample. Don't need to put in anything else.

I had to pay $35 on an item I ordered from a UK store in fees because the seller sent it on 3rd January instead of December (I paid it in November).

Brexit sucks for everyone. I don't know whose idea was that but they have done a huge disservice to the UK and everyone else. The product I buy can only be found in the UK so basically they ruined my day too...:(

The world is turning upside down. Everything it's changing. Ebay rules; VAT rules; sending rules;
I also have the same problem as you but on the other side (sending from EU to the UK).
We have a new kind of CN22 which is much more complex on the information that it contains and also requires much more effort to fill, print and stick to the envelope.

Was going to make a purchase from China earlier today using a business account. Bank said new rules: I have to visit a branch to fill out a form to have the recipient added to my list and then another form listing the items I'll be purchasing. I would have to visit the bank and fill in the latter every time I send money to the supplier even if he is already on my payee list.
New money laundering policy.

I simply moved the money to a different bank and sent it off without hassle as we've done for ages.

Reminds me of Howard Beale

I keep the money I use for suppliers in Payeer, Wise and PayPal. I know some will say it's a bad move but so far it worked great for 19 years or so.

That's a risk I'd personally not take. Paypal can't be trusted. I keep reading these "PayPal stole my Money..." threads from folks who trusted PayPal a little too much.
