I watch youtube video's and play roms on my iphone 4 all the time when out and about, haven't run the battery all the way down yet, it seems pretty sufficient.

Battery is an issue for a lot of phones, just because you are constantly using them and power is being consumed. I have a Blackberry, and it is perfect for notifications anytime I sell something on amazon/ebay. It can get annoying when you get notifications to ship 300-500 packages a day, but you need to know that type of information along with customer questions/concerns. I would also add that I have about 6 extra batteries, which cost around $4 each, which are bought on ebay from china, and work perfect. Keep an extra in your car, work, etc. So battery should be the last thing to worry about, but for reception it could be your area or phone itself. One of my beliefs is that when you use something every day it better be quality, reliable, and you must enjoy it. For example: phone, bed, car, etc. Phones are something that you just need to experiment with, and companies typically give you that option with the 30 day return policy. Personally I could care less about media/entertainment on a phone, I use mine for calls, texts, browser, and ebay/amazon, so the blackberry fits perfect.

iPhone has outstanding battery life, but the OS is garbage and is very restrictive. I would personally pick an Android phone, like the Droid 3, Droid Bionic, or the Samsung Galaxy S II

Once it's jailbroken it's good to go, I've got 100's of apps already I'll probably never use.

The Iphone is known to have the best battery life out of all smart phones, no matter what manufacturer.
When I was looking into battery life for a new smart phone, I really like the HTC mytouch 4g. It had among the highest battery life of all smart phones.

Also on an Android you can tweak many things to lower consumption of the battery.(I'm sure you can on an Iphone too,I just dont know).
Screen turns off a couple of seconds faster really prolong your battery life.

I'm using a Nexus S. All good but like you say battery life isn't the best. I've never ran out unless I was on it for hours and hours a day though. I usually have about 20% life left by the time I go to bed.

I also have the lg optimus, but with virgin mobile. I just got it yesterday morning and rooted it this morning. I had to find an entirely new method to root it. Only thing I am hating is the smaller screen. not bad for a $99 basic smart phone and 45/month
