Default Postal Service ( USPS ) this Year

Im just curious about others here on the forum as to their experience with the USPS Postal service the past holiday season.

I personally am about ready to "Blow a Gasket" My Package loss rate this year is OFF THE CHARTS, 3.7 % of all the packages I shipped this year according to the tracking information never reached their destination, Those who Know me Know that I keep HYPER Accurate records, this year the package loss rath is MORE than 3 Times the Next Highest Year (Going back 11 Years) that I have EVER recorded,,,,ANYONE else going through this??

Loss rate isnt an issue for me.

CRAZY A$$ shipping times I mean first class that should take no more than a week ive had taken as much as 22 days! Thats slower than stuff shipped from china...

Stuff not updating is another issue I am having. Im getting fed up with USPS at this point...

Spend too much money for this crap!

The absolute most disgusting shocking service from them this year.

I am in a similar place to you. Records in place, addresses checked. In fact because it was the not so jolly naffin' postal season, extra checks done to make sure the bluidy mail got thro............... like fudge it did.

My disasters were spread domestically and internationally.

Anyone care to tell me htfudge a parcel addressed to Washington, Tacoma with zip code 98401 arrived at Washington, IL with zip code 61571 £%$^£%
Local WA postal item is MIA, local CA postal item MIA.

Internationally was fizzer time. A mere SIX parcels out of LAX are simply gone. On the stoopid damn slow to ever up date USPS site, received & that's it. Nada, nothing more.
From FL, mixed bag. Best one was that $16 envelope parcel, sent ages after the full on you beauty sign for robbing the customer parcels, that arrived to OZ within 5 days.

Yeah, I naffin' despise USPS this year.

Media Mail and Parcel Post always had losses for me in the past. Now all I do is First Class, Priority or Express. So far, no losses other than financial due to using the more expensive services.

I had to contact consumers affairs this past thursday about shipping AND tracking.

Priority packages just disappearing off the face of the earth, not being signed for by the recipient as well as my local carrier NOT picking up packages after 6 requests.

Something is REALLY up with them.

Its funny that you post this.
I sold 3 laptops this Christmas season, used signature tracking. Of the 3 laptops, non got signed for. My guess is that they just dropped it off at the front door. I am so lucky, I asked the buyers if they have it and said yes. I would have been ruined this year. They averaged $2k each, insurance was included.

I went into the USPS main office in my city and started mouthing off to the postmaster. Only thing he did was refund me the signature tracking money. I was almost dragged out by security.

I think next year I will use another service for most of my parcels.

Why on earth are you using USPS for such expensive items? You are asking for trouble.

Its really the only thing I use. Is UPS or Fedex better for these types of items. Sorry, I dont have experience in that.

Same here... USPS sucks. They lose so many packages that i can't even keep track. The only reason we use them is because they are cheap. I see my mailman drinking beers in his truck. The new mail man is some punk kid with tattoos headphones and a bad attitude. Signatures are never asked for when they should be. The list goes on

They are the worst USPS. I used to get feedback that was mostly how fast it arrived. Now I get things like, I had to pay more postage at the post office or many, many lost shipments. I'm still not convinced it's the PO when that comes about.

I think it's just thieves who want fee Christmas gifts!

When you use tracking it almost never gets entered in there system until maybe the day of arrival (USPS). I get all kinds of stuff at my door, from ALL shipping companies that leave it without signatures!

Well, I thought it was only me, I KNOW how fustrating it is,, Here is where all the lost packages wind up:

Auctions

These guys Cry over how the Goverment wants to cut some of their funding, ( Which has NOT Happened ,,YET) so what do they do?,,,Under the diguise of a ripped label, damaged package, of "Undeliverable Address" they create more revenue thru these auctions,,,amazing

If you are witnessing these types of events, I would start taking pictures of all of this. Start recording the days and events you see every time, take it to the postmaster in your area. Start complaining about these events.

Some years back a few people and I in my apartment complex complained about the same problems you like. We all took movies and pictures, gave to the postmaster and the person was fired within 1 week. We all found out the guy was drinking and dealing some drugs from the back of the USPS vehicle. He worked with them for over 10 years and got fired without any type of pension or retirement.

The new postal person was a little better but I moved 2 months after that.

I don't think they are loosing your packages at a 3.7 % rate Slapped. That would put the USPS up there with the Brazilian and Russian post office. What is happening (and I think you and everyone else in this thread has realized) is the quality of employees has gone down significantly. The USPS is bleeding cash at a rate of 26 million a day and it is estimated that they will be completely bankrupt in 9 months if the government does not bail them out. For price you can't beat them, but if you want to be safe ship Fedex or UPS. Remember when you take an actual lose to write it off on your taxes.

ABSOLUTLEY, GUARANTEED,,,3.7%,,I have been sending shipments with USPS for OVER 10 Years now and every year packages get losted, but ALWAYS LESS than 1%,,Not this year,,,From Nov 1 to Jan 1,,,and absolutly Unbelievable 3.7%,,,,

Now to be ABSOLUTLY Clear these are ALL "Item Not Recieved " complaints that the tracking information shows Nothing, which left me NO choice but to resend the item,,

I have NO Idea how many shipments I sent where the Tracking information Never got updated but the items were recieved by honest people, so there were no complaints,,,but that is not to say that of all of those packages that I replaced that there werent a few bogus claims by people who simply were playing the fact that the tracking information showed no updates,,,but I assure you it was 3.7%

Also I do not discount the fact that some postal worker at my local Post office might have simply been taking a Package and a Package there from my shipments, that is actually the reason that I started this thread, to see if anyone else has experienced the same thing,,Those here who know me Know that I have been complaining about USPS for Quite some time this holiday season,,

What the U.S. Postal Service Default Really Means - Businessweek

USPS is broke and it's getting worse.

Another Government Agency at its best.

i did not have any lost packages but just about EVERY package i sent ( i always use USPS) was late and had delayed tracking information on their website. we all know what that leads to. i usually never scan my packages as i drop them off but now i have them scan in each package just to show the customer i did my part and hopefully they will understand that USPS is horrible. this is still the service people request most (especially for me) and since i ship internationally a lot, USPS is the cheapest and most reliable (don't know how i am saying that)

USPS is not the only bad one out there .
Royal mail over xmas is terrible .
I have apparently lost 17 items over the dec period.
I still put it down to them doubling there workforce with temps on a very low wage who cant resist a nice well packed box for there collection hoping its some fancy electronic device .
How gutted they must be when they open it to find some car part.
Either way i can stand the losses , ill make it up on the next month.
What i cant stand is the 17 complaints as it has killed my TRS on one account .

My Post office does NOT scan my packages because of the volume, the only courtesy they allow me is to Unload directly into a Cart on the loading dock. I understand that certain shipping Postage softwate allows you to print some sort of a Master scan sheet for entire shipment, in other words 1 Barcode on a peice of paper that once scanned will show an entire Dropoff of say 70-80 Packages ALL accepted as if they were scanned individually, anyone know which software allows this? I know that paypal Multi Order shipping software does not,,
