Nothing like opening day, and the playoffs when you team is in the hunt. Was in vegas last week and did a little $50 parlay on some favs.... MIL, DET, LAD, CUBS, NATS, LAA, STL, and SEA to win 8 g's.

Sandy D 04-01-2013 07:22 PM

Not the highlight of our life but we have been to every ball parks in both leaques with the exception of 4-5 of them.

And all the Florida spring training parks as well.

Fun times in most all of them.

AmazonStealth 04-01-2013 07:46 PM

Hey Sandy, About 10 yrs ago me and a bud would spend a couple weeks driving around FLA for spring training. Great times! We went to most of the parks but there was something very special about Dodger Town at Vero beach. It was the one place where you felt like you entered a time warp and could see baseball as it was in more innocent times like the 40s & 50s. There were no separate entrances for the players - they had to walk thru the same parking lot as the fans and thru the stands also to get to the field. Everything was very accessible and cozy.

They do. The American League seems wide open to me. I cannot see anyone coming close to Washington in the NL. I think they will win over 110 games.

Off to a nice start though trouncing the Pods 11-2. This is going to be a fun squad to watch. I think they are better than the prognosticators say. The outfield is much better than last year when Bay and Torres stunk it up. Catcher is a major upgrade too. They will score runs but Once again it comes down to the bullpen especially if Parnell finally breaks out.

I agree. It is an awesome place to be.

Not fancy but always like Ed Smith Stadium and Disney has Wide World of Sports for the Braves to.

Like Plant City for the Reds until they got greedy and moved.

Opening day for Jays here - am not the biggest fan of them but...all I can do right now since the loss of my beloved Expos.

Sandy D 04-02-2013 07:47 AM

Expos???

Remember Andre Dawson well but they never were able to get it together.

Remember when the Philly mascot tackled another teams mascot and knocked them out cold?

Anyone remember the silly chicken at the San Diego games many years ago?

km018 04-02-2013 06:25 PM

It's always a long season for me (Pirates fan)!

I'm predicting the Nationals and Blue Jays in the world series.

You are going to absolutely love RA Dickey. He has a mezmerizing knuckleball he throws like nobody else in the history of the game. He throws them for strikes which is very difficult since knuckler has a mind of its own - makes hitters look silly. On top of that he is a very classy and well-spoken person - really stands out from the typical athlete. As well, his personal story of overcoming adversity is incredible. He was actually the first cut in spring training 2010 - from there something kicked in on his knuckler - he had an incredible game in the minors, the Mets brought him back up and he has been solid ever since.

On the other hand Jose Reyes can be the most exciting player you ever saw and the also the most frustrating.

Good luck!

Actually Sandy they had an excellent team for many years back in the early 80s with Gary Carter and later on could have been a dynasty had they not traded away Randy Johnson as a rookie in 89. The killer came in `94 they were 42 games over .500 and running away in the NL with a young Pedro Martinez and Moises Alou and Larry Walker were raking. That year MLB had its worst labor dispute, the players went on strike or locked out and the World Series was cancelled - the Expos were heavy favorites to win. That tore the heart out of Expos fans and they never recovered.

My fav Montreal moment was Daryl Strawberry hitting a monster shot off the roof in Olympic stadium. Awesome.

MM78 04-02-2013 10:52 PM

For any Cups Fan's...they are on top 3-1 over the Pirates..

I agree, best manager that the Mets have had in quite some time, Collins is a FAR cry from the Terry Collins who managed the Angles Back in the late 90's

Yes hmm early 90s lockout - 93 I believe....that was looking like a strong year for the Expos :(

As was stated, the Expos nor their Fans ever recovered from that strike Shortned season,,,Then Jeffrey Loria bought into the Expos,,and that was the END for that team,,,Now this Clown is running the Circus that are the Florida Marlins these days, Loria should not even be allowed to attend a Baseball game as a FAN let alone as an Owner,,

By the Way My Mets Won Again, I may as well celebrate now, this winning streak might not last to long,,,

Sandy D 04-03-2013 11:58 PM

Sad to see money men like this owner sitting their on a very ripe and decent franchise and ruins it like he has.

Then again they got the hapless Marlins coming in next. Though tomorrow worries me with Dillon Gee going. He really hasn't looked good this spring at all. It might take him a couple months to get back in the groove.

rsot 04-04-2013 08:21 AM

As for the Diamondbacks game last night (@TGMT squared), I saw the homerun that hit the fan in the head ha - the guy moved out of the way so his wife would be hit by the ball.

I Hope Dillon does not turn out to be another Mike Pelfry, Talk about a Guy who NEVER lived up to his potential, others would say Hype,,,As for the Marlins,,,Jeffery Loria should be SKINNED for what he did to that team and its fans,,,

Are you kidding me!

To get out of the way of a ball and allow it to pick off your wife shows how stupid the guy is.

I have seen many catch fly balls like this without a glove.

I have personally witness a ball rip the lips off a small child in the stands as the threads tore the poor kids mouth wide open and the Dad of course sitting beside him hit the deck instead of covering over the kid.
