Brain tease WHERE DID THE 1$ GO?

So you see this nice shirt, it costs 97$.... You don't have the money to buy it.....(people if you don't have the money to buy a 97$ shirt please don't borrow money for it) So you decide to borrow money from your parents!

Your dad gives you 50$ and then your mom gives you another 50$. Nice, now you have 100$ and you go and buy your shirt.

You bought your shirt, now you have 3 dollars change.

You decide to give your dad 1$ back and your mother a dollar back.... you keep the extra dollar.

Now you owe your mother and father 49$ each.......

49+ 49 = 98 + the dollar you kept....99? where did the other 1$ go?
