Ahhhh,,,Just what the forum needed,,,ANOTHER Warren Buffet,,,with a FRESH NEW thread

This question has been asked around here,,Once or Twice,,,,and like ALWAYS it cannot truly be anwsered, Selling on Ebay, Amazon, ect, ect,,,is different for EVERY user,,people sell for MANY different reasons, for a little xtra pocket money,,,, to put them thru school,,,,, xtra income to supplement the regular job,,,,, a Mother making ends meet working from home because she has children to care for,,,there are of course people where it is the ONLY source of income,,,

As for profit margins, well that all depends on what you sell,,,cell phone screen protectors may earn you 1 CENT profit per sale,,BUT you may sell 2000 per day,,,a Painting may make you $10,000 profit per Sale, but you can only sell 4 a YEAR,,

So you see this is NOT a good question,,,Waaaaaay too many variables,,,

Good Luck

You can make decent amount of money. I am not longer living on earth thanks to eBay Stealth. I am posting this message from space from my private space craft, fully paid off thanks to all my sales.

As slapped mentioned, you can easily become a millionaire selling screen protectors. I became a billionaire selling screen protectors that can also be used as chewing gum. Instant success.

Sorry, I gotta go. My radar is indicating that paypal is trying to take over space with a new imperial currency. I need to fight them back and keep the galactic internet free of evil.

As a side job. What ever you do never rely on ebay or amazon as your whole source of income. Never think im going to be on ebay and amazon forever making money, its a private company, your at their mercy 24/7 I use it to make enough money to progress my studies. The fact is ebay was easier and better 10 years ago, you could sell almost anything. Now you are very limited to what you can sell, so if you have one of those light bulb moments, in most cases the natural high only last a few min when you relize that your idea is NOT allowed.

Spend more time looking at your own operations than asking for others - just a tip

Yeesh these other members. Yes you can make a living off ebay but you will practically live your life at the key board, seeking inventory and at the post office to pull it off. Apply Ocrams Razor to the above back handed comments/feeble attempts at humor and the people who made them and you'll see they do quite well(why else would they keep making stealth accounts and keep selling and be on this board if it wasn't worth the effort and profitable?). Time and being on this board has made them overly snarky and cynical to new members

Humour - Your welcome. And it was not that feeble

Some people do make a living, others use it as a side gig for a bit of extra money.

If you do want to make a living though bigboddie is right in saying that you will spend a lot of time at the keyboard initially, although eventually you can hire someone to do that bit for you if you do well enough.

My postie comes and collects all my stuff from my house/business address now, not been in a post office for a good few months. But to get to that stage I have spend 7 days a week for years at the computer researching very hard and building up accounts. Its just like any other business, the more you put in the more you will eventually get out.

Obviously you don't understand what we are trying to say here.
We SUPPORT NEW MEMBERS.

but the questions of what you sell, what to sell, your profit margins, etc....well
Would you tell just about anyone the answer? Hmm?

Think about it before you talk.

I have a normal 9-5 job that pays me very well. Although, it makes me fat because I end up sitting in front a computer all day long.

The extra cash that I earn on ebay allows my wife to stay home and take care of the kid...and gives her time to cook us fresh meals, which also makes me more fat...

So either ebay is making me more money or more fat...who knows?

Anyway, I digress...the question can be answered 100 different ways by 100 different people. You can be very successful doing ebay and selling whatever product you like, its all in how much work and effort you want to put into it.

I am not quite sure 'postie' qualifies as the Queens English truth be told.

Unless your real job is a part time job then to be successful this should be your real job and have 100% of your attention.

Ppl think its easy but customers are demanding and require immediate response most of the time before they get upset and ruin years of work.

I agree with that, ebay buyers can be very needy and the difference between getting a negative and positive is responding to them within minutes rather than hours.

Customer service is extremely important when selling on ebay, so be prepared to give out items for free and exceed customers expectations, or you will not survive.

I owned a restaurant for years , I have been out of that for couple years now but it definitely made me a better ebay seller , very similar customer service problems that need solutions fast

Now I recently work ebay full time , it took 7 months to build up to where I could focus on just my ebay business , but now with more time I'm able to focus on my listings , creating accounts and dealing with customers a lot better and it shows as sales have soared since I made the jump.

Even though I don't need it I still work just weekends, it's kind of an insurance to me in case something happens I'm not left high and dry. Guess it's all part of stealth mentality don't put all ur eggs in one basket

Nothing snarky here. Ok... I...well... kind of exaggerated. ... I don't live in A spacecraft... but I call my RV the spacecraft and I circle around the local Walmart calling it space dressed as princess Leia...ok... busted

Nothing wrong with OP question. Asking for profit margin is a little too personal of a question on a public forum. Buy me a drink first at least!!
