NFL Season 2013 has begun

NFL Season 2013 - nice game to start but Ravens D looked tired, not ready

Peyton sends a message to the rest of the Defensive Coordinators in the NFL...just try to stop me!

Was hoping he would hit 8 TDs - that noob play at the end zone did cost a full 7 points...ball dropped before hah

An0nym0u$ 09-06-2013 02:05 PM

Thank goodness neither of my fantasy teams faced off against him!

LOL

And the Colts thought he was washed up.

He is the brightest QB I have ever seen play bar none. Knows the game better then any defensive coordinator will ever know. He gets inside DB heads and outsmarts them.

I cannot think of any QB in my lifetime that is better. He just has been stuck with some lousy Colts players or would have won some more Super Bowls.

I am no Bronco fan but would like to see them win it all just to shut up the jealous people.

Joe Montana is often talked about as the best ever. NOPE. Players around him made him look good.

Until the Giants beat them!!! BigBlue wins Super Bowls when no one expects them to! (Especially one where they would be the HOME team). I have faith Eli will bring another championship!!

Going to be a fun NFL Sunday for sure.

vogeltron 09-08-2013 04:46 AM

49ers have a very good team. They also have a very tough schedule. The NFC West is no Joke. We know the Seahawks are good. But even the Rams who had the 49ers number last year and the Cardinals with Carson Palmer throwing to Fitz with Mendenhall to hand off to are better.

I will say I use to be Niners fan way back when Eddie D was the owner. In my opinion ever since the York's got control the Franchise has gone down hill morally. After they fired Maricci for somehow not beating the Bucs with a going with Dennis Erickson. You have to be kidding me.

Alex Smith, Westbrook, Jacobs, Seneca Wallace. The 49ers have treated their players like crap time and time again. Even how they let Jerry Rice go out. The York's are toxic they will never be Eddie D.

From someone who bets on lots of games can put everything else aside. I see the 49ers because of their Schedule as being a 10 win team. The past few years they benefited from schedule strength etc. They have been good the past two years but nobody is over looking them anymore. If they happen to lose vs the Packers then in Seattle which they got stomped last year we will see. If they want to prove they are the top dog like Manning and Denver did they need to make a clear statement the next two games.

I do think Cincinnati is the under the radar team that will contend for the Superbowl. They have a ton of talent and nobody is talking about them. The AFC North has been very tight for many years. The Steelers are looking old I would compare them to the Phillies in baseball and the Ravens just have too many new pcs to replace old reliable ones. I think Steelers and Ravens can make the playoffs be 9 or 10 win teams. But I think the Bengals are younger they have a stud WR in AJ Green who is overshadowed by Calvin Johnson. Andy Daulton has prove in 2 season he is a winner. I think this is the year he steps up.

As much as I have hated on the 49ers in this post I do think it will be a third 49ers vs Bengals Superbowl.

rsot 09-08-2013 06:29 AM

Long been a 49ers fan and figuring them to be in it like last year. Nice analysis vogeltron - interesting take on Cincinnati

49ers vs. Packers!
Prediction: 49ers win by 7+.

Sandy D 09-08-2013 02:05 PM

Pats v Broncos

49ers v Packers

Broncos v 49ers

49ers win it all.

Nice call. I am sure Packer fans are going to be calling for conspiracy against the team. Last year the worst call ever with the Seahawks TD to end the game. Now giving the Packers the extra down on that double penalty play.

I will say Kapernick at least for one game proved he can stand back in the pocket and complete passes. Not so reliant on using his legs. Boldin proved once again how much of a beast he is. Vernon Davis also proved how the 49ers are probably the only team HS/College/NFL that their deep threat is the TE.

Next Sundays game 49ers vs Seattle should be a good one. Have to give the Seahawks fans credit when I watched the preseason games every seat in the stadium was filled and they were cheering like it was regular season game. Clearly some of the best fans in Football.

Seahawks had a tough game against the Panthers. They did win. The Panthers I think are better than some people are giving credit. The NFC South has historically since they went to the 4 team each division format been unpredictable. Teams that finish in last place the year before rocket up to first place the next year. Would not be surprised if that is a close division 1-2 games separating the Division winner from the last place team.

Pryor played well for the Raiders I think they will be competitive this season but still below .500. Cheifs rolled the Jags, the Andy Reid & Alex Smith combo is so crazy it might just work. One of those weird things like Gannon and Gruden having all that success for the Raiders.

Quite some good action yesterday - Vikings' Pedersen vs. Lions' Bush - good running there but mistakes on both sides.

The night game Giants vs. Cowboys was disaster for Giants...6 turnovers (4 interceptions and 2 fumbles leading to 2 TDs and 1 FG?) - that was bad...yet still a close score.

Re: NFL Season 2013 has begun

Peterson is the best back in the NFL.

Bush, well not as good as some people think or he would have stuck with one team instead of bouncing around like he has.

Peterson is a gamer and one of the best ever at cutting back and doing things like Sanders, Emmitt, Payton did.

Bush gets a headache and he wants to sit on the bench.

I am looking at the Lions as the "Poor Man's" Saints North. I really like the Reggie Bush signing. He fits their type of offense perfectly. Kinda like Javid Best the short time he was there. The guy you can hand the ball off to but also has the big play ability on screens and check downs in a pass happy offense.

Tressman and the Bears is the Wild Card for me in the NFC North. Vikings I think will have to ride AP too much to win. Packers Defense isn't what it was a few years ago and they have Zero running game. I do think Packers are a 10 win team but not clear favorites for the division.

Peronally I like Detroit. They have a solid QB, best WR in Football. If SUH can stop making stupid penalties and hopefully not get suspended. This team is set up to contend nicely for the Division. As of right now I like the Lions to win the Division. Packers are still solid. Even though some people call him Reggie "Bust" I think his style of play being the RB/WR is perfect for the Lions.

I remember Tressman most for being QB coach for Steve Yong in SF. Hard to say how the Bears will fair with him as Head Coach. Lovie Smith was more than predictable by the end. They had remained at mediocrity for what seemed like 10 years.

I do think the Chargers will also be better off by dumping Norv Turner. I am still a believer they never should have fired Marty Schottenhimer and the franchise underperformed for many years because of that hire.

Obviously, the Eagles look renewed as well. They put on a performance the first half of the Monday night game. Should be fun to watch. Although Reid did some stupid stuff in Philly like hiring Juan Castio as Defensive Coordinator at the end. Even Bill Walsh said at some point when you are there long enough they do hear you anymore.

I expect KC to have a surprise year. I don't think they are Superbowl bound or will win the division but for a team coming of a 2 win season with Reid and Smith if the won 9 or 10 games. especially with their schedule. I do not see being out of the realm of possibilities.

Re: NFL Season 2013 has begun

49ers are 3 point underdogs going into Seattle right now. If it was 2 1/2 I would take the game no problem. I mean the Hawks and 12th man are crazy. Gotta give them props but the 49ers D is great the Seahawks have some big DBs in Bronwer and Sherman. This game is a toss up from my perspective. I do think Seattle as the home team has the edge. But I see this being a field goal game myself.

If anyone wants to talk me out of taking the Niners with the spread on this one please do. I like Seattle they where awesome last year but they just didn't show up like I would have hoped last Sunday. I know the East Coast games for West Coast teams are always against them. The winning percentage is terrible. But I didn't see anything that stood out to me. Anyways, I would love to know what you guys think.

Also regarding the Chiefs and Cowboys game. 2.5 point favorite for the Chiefs at home this week. I know the Cowboys beat the Giants but they had 6 turnovers. I don't expect that from Alex Smith and Company. Arrowhead is always a rough place to play. I personally think this game is a lock. I would like anyone who disagrees as well to tell my why not.

Caught a glimpse of the Pats and Jets brawl.

I cannot remember a team that look fantastic 2-3 years ago completely fall apart at the seems like the Jets have.

2-3 years ago they looked like they were a few players away from doing extremely well. Now they look like a bunch of scrubs playing pick up basketball or something.

Time for Ryan to be fired and re group.

In my opinion the Jets those two years where never that good. The first year 2009 they made the playoffs at 9-7 that is more luck than anything. I remember one year the Pats went 11-5 and missed the playoffs. 2009 Jets beat the Chargers because Nate Kaeding missed 3 easy field golds. 2010 they had a solid team but not Superbowl contenders. Rex is just like his old man. He is a great defensive mind. But like his old man, he isn't cut out to be a head coach. We have seen this lots of times with Mike Nolan, Wade Phillips, Norv Turner. Some guys are great coordinators but crummy head coaches.

Wow, the 49ers got spanked tonight. I knew Richard Sherman was really good. But my gosh, I always kinda thought Boldin was the most physical WR in the league. He shut him down. Sherman/Browner combo is crazy.

49ers and Seahawks are still obvious favorites to win the division. But even AZ and St. Louis look like they are going to be competitive.

That was a tough loss for the 49ers indeed.

Chiefs at Eagles Thursday night football. Should be an interesting game.

Eagles with Vick, McCoy, Jackson have put up big yards. Alex Smith and company with Reid as coach just seem to win. Remind me of the 49ers 2011 with lots of talent finally getting a worthy coach.

McNabb number is suppose to be retired. Hard to say what will happen. I like the Eagles offense. I doubt the Defense. I am on par with Chiefs offense and defense, don't think D is great as well as don't think O is great. But I think they are in-between. Interesting to see how it plays out.

As much as I like the Eagles offense. My Bias will always be for Alex Smith I think he is the "Game Manager" that always "manages" to win". I will take the Chiefs in this game.

One of my apps is saying that the Colts are talking about Super Bowl now they traded for Richardson.

I do not see the Colts with enough talent to go to any Super Bowl anytime soon do you?

Traded him for first-round picks - still a lot of integration and timing to work on - will see how they fare against the 49ers in the coming game

Other big news in football...

Broncos took a giant hit when they lost their All-Pro left tackle Ryan Clady.

Clady protects Peyton's blind side and is considered one of the best tackles (if not the best) in football.

Everything starts and ends with the offensive line.

Football is a battle of attrition. Sometimes it's the healthiest teams that advance, not the most talented.

Running Backs that average 3.5 yards per carry are a dime a dozen in the NFL. Maybe they will have a better scheme on the colts I don't know. The Browns must have seen something internally they really didn't like to give up on the number 3 overall pick from last year.

LOL

Even I could run for 3 yards per carry in the NFL myself with those big guys in front me.

If I would live for the second trip......
