Yup - but Spurs beating Miami is going to take some tough efforts

Glad to see the Heat clean out the Pacers.

Cannot stand the trash talking dirty playing of these Pacers.

Duncan 2 games shy of double double record

Re: NBA Followers & other Ball sports (NCAA too)

I should have put money on it.

I called the finals being the rematch of the Heat vs Spurs.

Dont know if the Spurs have enough bench again. The big 3 on the Spurs are aging and need a break and the Spurs bench is no way close to the depth Miami has.

Toss up for me, I want to see Duncan win another ring and want to see Lebron win another one as I believe if he wins another ring and plays a several more seasons he will surpass MJ as the best ever. His early years in Cleveland really cost him.

Spurs have to much depth this time around. Duncan, Parker are key players. However, Splitter and Green are the difference makers. Diaw and Belinelli phenomenal role players as well. The Heat still have the big Three and some nice pieces like Birdman. But the Spurs have too much depth and experience this time around in my opinion. It will be a 6 or 7 game series I am sure.

The West was so much better this year. The Heat couldn't even handle the lackluster pacers. If they win all the props. But the first round in the West each team was solid as can be. The Spurs are an enigma with the age yet youth. If I was in Vegas my money would be on the Spurs in Six.

Interesting that you have Spurs to win it all

The Spurs have improved from last year where what really killed them from another big man and bench players. Spurs still go 7 deep and the Heat can go 10-11 deep easily.

I called this finals and these two teams are so different from each other. Spurs played smart and fundamental basketball and the Heat rely on pure athletic ability and depth.

I think it will go 7 and Heat wins the last game mainly because Parker is not healthy enough to handle 7 games with a bad ankle. Without him being 100% they will just hang and run out of air at the end.

I believe there are 5-6 players in NBA history to have 5 rings?

Duncan has 4.

Actually there are about 25 player with 5 or more. Duncan is up there with the elites either way. Many of the players on the list were good but not elite players on great Bulls, Celtics and Lakers teams.

# of Rings : Players
11: Bill Russell
10: Sam Jones
8: Tom Heinsohn, K. C. Jones, Tom "Satch" Sanders, John Havlicek
7: Jim Loscutoff, Frank Ramsey, Robert Horry
6: Bob Cousy, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen
5:George Mikan, Jim Pollard, Slater Martin, Larry Siegfried, Don Nelson, Magic Johnson, Michael Cooper, Dennis Rodman, Ron Harper, Steve Kerr, Derek Fisher, Kobe Bryant

How about K.C. Jones being Bill Russell's "Robin". Two NCAA titles at USF (University of San Fransico) you kidding me! Then the Gold Medal in the Olympics. And the 7 NBA Titles with Celtics. Not to mention a nice Career as a head coach.

Loaded with Celtics.

Seeing Ron Harper and Robert Horry with that many and neither were fantastic players.

Sandy D 06-04-2014 10:36 PM

Re: NBA Followers & other Ball sports (NCAA too)

Think about it.

Only 25 total players have 5 rings.

A deeper look shows Ron Harper won 5 straight rings with 2 different teams.

John Salley won only 4 rings but with 3 different teams.

I would like to see Duncans name on this list but also would like to see people shut up about Lebron as he is right behind MJ as the best ever in my opinion. Yes he needs a few more solid years which I hope he is healthy enough to have those and you will hopefully see him a few years down the road being mentioned as one of the 2 best players ever.

Celtics actually should have won 3 more championships in the 80's and got homered badly in 2 series vs the Lakers.

Great game.

Parker seems healthy.

Looked like Miami was going to run away with it until James had the cramps and then Spurs cleaned their clock on a 31-9 run.

It was a great game with the Spurs coming back.

Only James seem phased by the "heat"...he was doing well until that point.

Let's see how the Heat rebound

Ginobili, is like Tony Romo at the end of games. I have no clue why they even play him. If Rashard Lewis turns back the clock and plays like he did today. That may swing this entire series in the heats favor.

LOL

I predict the Spurs will shoot 75% the first half and win by 20.

I am totally for the spurs. They were the better team last year, and the better team this year. I was never into big name agents such as lbj, bosh or Kobe. I think when u watch 10 players play in complete synchronization, like the spurs, it was a thing of beauty. Go spurs!

Sandy D 06-11-2014 09:58 PM

Re: NBA Followers & other Ball sports (NCAA too)

They sure do play the way it is suppose to be done. Team work.

They are like a machine when they are on like the first half.

Heat has the athletic ability to overcome this type of play but we will see.

Would like to see Tim go out with another one but a fan of Lebrons also puts me on either side.

vogeltron 06-12-2014 03:44 AM

Re: NBA Followers & other Ball sports (NCAA too)

This Series is going to test how good Lebron really is. Because there is no question the Spurs have the deeper team. Bosh is solid, Wade is broken down and is average at best. The rest of the heat is suspect.

If the Heat win this Series is because Lebron James carries them and even with this so/so team put around him now was better than anything he had on the Cavs. The Cavs owner should be ashamed of the Garbage he gave the best player since MJ to work with. Old man O'Neal and Antwan Jamison. Come on.

I have no stake in the outcome. Spurs have the most solid franchise in the NBA for like 15 years now. Unreal. But this is a test for Lebron. Is he up there with MJ at the head of the class for greatest players of the Modern Era since they added the 3-point line.

Sandy D 06-12-2014 03:07 PM

Re: NBA Followers & other Ball sports (NCAA too)

Glad to see someone finally agrees with me just how good he really is.

He can carry them but he cannot do it all. Wade seems to be done to me. His legs just dont have it anymore.

Spurs are a smart team all around and play the game the way it is suppose to be played. Fun to watch.

I think Ginobli is the factor here, he cannot have bad games anymore.

anyone else think road to finals for the heat was too easy. they had it easy that now they can't even see to compete which is sad really but man the spurs and playing like a well oiled machine.

Re: NBA Followers & other Ball sports (NCAA too)

Heat game is quite different - not as technically sound and definitely few players from the bench are NOT stepping up.

its over for the heat. no chance, history stands lebron

Sandy D 06-16-2014 02:15 AM

Re: NBA Followers & other Ball sports (NCAA too)

Lebron cannot carry the entire team on his back no matter how good he is. Jordon had Pippen, Grant etc.

Wade did nothing, bench was not playing well and Allen had a bad series.

And of course they ran into a much improved Spurs team who were like silk on every part of the game. Smooth!

Nice to see Duncan with his 5th. He has been amazing his entire career.

The big three is not in Miami, it is Duncan, Parker and Ginobli.

I dont think this will hurt Lebron at all other then those who hate him or just dont see how darn good he really is.

No one in the NBA even compares to him.

Heat made a huge mistake signing Greg Oden, he could have been a force but the lazy butt just stands around and does nothing.

Reminds me of the NFL Playoffs. AFC was so weak with horrible Defense. NFC was stacked. Better conference handled them. No question the Western conference was the Superior Conference in NBA.

It is arguable even though I think Lebron James is that good. That is the Suns (who didn't even make the playoffs) played the Heat in the Finals the Suns could have made it a 6 or 7 game series.

I also said this before it started. Lebron James will probably jump to the Bulls in the off-season. He won't go to the West because it is stacked. Easiest road to finals in through the East.
