Activity: 0% Longevity: 58% | | USPS Check made out to 'stealth' name
So I shipped out something from a sale on eBay and it got lost in the mail. I sent the customer another one as soon as I saw it lost, as I always monitor my shipments. I filed a claim with the US post office ($70) and just received the check. Problem, it is made out the my eBay Stealth account first and last name. Any suggestions on how to cash this or deal with it to try & get the money? Thnx..

It's always, easier to deposit money , than it is to take it out
With BOA I would think it's the same concept as allowing mismatched names with the paypal deposits, except this time you are just depositing the money in the form of a check
Both are deposits , both mismatched names, so you shouldn't have any trouble, but again , if it is a big check say near $10,000 I do not know
But a couple hundred or few hundred , I know with check deposit on the boa app it works

The proper way to make the check that is currently payable to you, payable to someone else, is to apply a restrictive endorsement. On the back of the check, you
should write "Pay to the order of _______________" and then sign your name below.
That will make the item payable to the person you designate and that person will then need to endorse it or deposit it into his/her account.
It's possible that the party to whom you endorse the check may have difficulty cashing the item, but if he/she has a longstanding good relationship with a financial institution, that shouldn't be a problem.
This is the proper way to sign over a check to someone else, so since your both people you need to do both parts,
but if the check isn't a big amount just use the app take a pic of the front and back and I doubt you will be questioned

The one without a bank account just got limited today. If I request a check and deposit it into my bank account that's currently being used for my still standing stealth, will the accounts link and get limited? I already know the Chase app has this feature I just don't want my accounts to get linked.

Really? over here they check names and reject....
when you filed the claim, you should not have put stealth name on it...it was kinda obvious. The customer will see the real name if USPS writes to them about it etc, but ebay would not see it.....I file all my claims under my business name, and I have a matching bank account for the deposit...
so does anyone think they should send check back and say it was wrong name and please sent right one, or would they not buy that?

To the person who revived this thread, banks do not share ANY info with Paypal unless Paypal tries pulling money out your bank account. There's zero chance of Paypal linking your accounts from you depositing a stealth account check into your bank account. There is a chance your bank will reject the check though since it's not made out to you.

I missed the Chase part. I haven't done the mobile deposit with Chase app but I figure it will pass since Chase is stealth-friendly.
