Re: How to Stay Motivated

I just love eBay b/c I can buy and sell things that I am interested in and become a bit of an expert in the products. I also have extra money to spend and not have to touch my paycheck from work.

Thailand is pretty nice with good Internet though.

Come to think about it I actually save money traveling (cost of living is so much lower in east asian countries *mostly).

Hi Aspkin,

What happened to the Six Figure Boss?

I believe he said it was being being updated. He's always busy with many projects so he took it off the market for the time being while he works on an upgraded and updated version.

If I'm misquoting you Aspkin I do apologize.

Re: How to Stay Motivated

I suffer from anxiety and depression so loosing motivation is something that happens to me often. The way I snap myself out of it is by "firing myself up." I remind myself that I can't afford to give up, it simply is not an option for me. The world is a competitive place and for me to survive I cannot allow myself to not do anything. Time is money, and the more time I waste is potential money I could have earned.

Fueled by sheer hate for eBay I'm really motivated to have a perfect account with no limits or ties to anything of the past, being a millionaire and locating my mail order bride at some point.

I usually start off by getting butt naked in my living room and getting a jar of maple syrup and rub it all over my body and my nipples. I then get a dozen Hmong dwarves from the Malaysian forest to lick off the maple syrup from both my nipples and buttcrack while i sit and get completely aroused while watching the womens ice skating competition in my super ghetto run down home.:au:

works.........everytime.....

This is a great post :) I concur. It's the listing thats a pain.I LOVE finding my stuff... but putting it on is a pain in the arse. Im small time max 150 items but I'd love to jack in the job and go full time. That would be my aim. I tend to try and list everything one night a week when I feel super motivated. Maybe some time out would do you good! When I lose an account, I'm always raring to go on the next one! Good luck, and I hope you find what you're looking for. Motivation or otherwise!

I recently, within the last year, got into buying and building LEGO sets. That's one expensive hobby...

Re: How to Stay Motivated

if i ever became super rich,

i had always had thoughts of walking into a well respected company like one of those big 4 companies, deloitte and ernst and young just shouting out obscenities against the higher up executives that they don't have nearly as much money as me and that I have a giant size penis and I am not afraid to use it.

and basically dress up like a super ghetto person wearing gaudy jewelry like large gold chains around my neck wearing golden rings on each finger and a red bathrobe and fury slippers with golden teeth and acting super ghetto like a guy straight from the hood just to insult everyone. and say F*** you your family and everyone in this entire world and leave and laugh it all up while i climb back into my lamborghini while the executives are sitting their with the odd looking face.

I'd like to go into one of those companies to apply for the highest paid job they have using stealth principles, everything will be BS, my CV a work of total fiction.

I always thought about doing something like this, just for a thrill / gag. Invent a character and a story for yourself and see how far you can push it. Request an interview and see how charismatic and convincing you can be. Don't even need to accept the job, can just be for practice.

A good way to stay motivated is to pay a visit to one of your most hated job locations. That miserable feeling will come back about what ever you hated about it. This will reinforce your dedication to never go back to that sort of situation. Thanking your lucky stars as I do just remembering what I just described motivating me to 'never go back'.

Re: How to Stay Motivated

I remember when i was hired for a data entry job at stanford hospital over in menlo park CA.

I had to be there monday through friday at 9am in the morning,

I woke up got dressed and left my spot at 7:30am sat in traffic every morning for about 1 to 2 hours in traffic.

then for the next 8 hours i had the most tedious job on gods given earth i had to copy and paste data from pdf spreadsheets to a new system for patients. I stared at the clock every 2 minutes...........

I got that nice 30 MINUTE lunch break..........these people had a cafeteria that you can buy food from, it took me a whole 20 minutes to pick my food and stand in line and pay for it and a good 5 minutes to eat it and run back to to the office to work......never can drive off campus to get something else....

i got off of work at 5pm and had to sit in traffic for 1 to 2 hours by the time i got home i only had about 2-3 hours to myself and had to do it all over again.

When the weekend came around i never wanted to go anywhere or do anything because i was so tired.......

oh yes.......I beg them to let me go.....

I never had another day job since then.......

nothing beats being self-employed.......i dont do 30 minute lunch breaks.......

I have not set an alarm for myself to wake up at a specific time in years.....
I can take as many days off as I want when I want to.....
I never get sick........when i had a job everybody at work was always sick so i constantly caught whatever was spreading in the office.....

My god, I feel for you. I had a similar situation without the commute when I worked at a call centre. Although many jobs pay higher in big cities they often are offset by other costs including long commutes and invisible costs such as your time (and car / gas), stress, higher costs of living (house / rental around big cities are higher, insurance, etc). If you settle in a smaller city with lower costs although you get paid less your costs of living can be much lower and you don;t have to work as hard to make ends meet.

The best thing for people to unshackle themselves from jobs they hate is lower your costs of living and live below your means. I've never had problems with this because im naturally cheap but some people seem to magically spend every dime they make once that check comes in. Never makes sense to me.
