Activity: 40% Longevity: 60% | | New Era of Lowering Fees for Sellers?
My eBay fees are about 13.55%, this is about 3% lower than it was a few years ago for me. Mercari just dropped fees for all sellers, and Depop lowered fees to 5% in the UK. Looks to me like there is a competition going to reduce fees, and will continue over time. Maybe as a way to get back more merchants?
Amazon seems to be going the complete opposite direction, however it's possible eBay lowers fees to maybe sub 10%? Seems far fetched but could happen. I think if they rely on higher fees for less performing sellers it can counter balance things, and make for a better marketplace which then has more consumers.

Traffic you have in Amazon is premium traffic, it cost
All the others can compete only with lowering fees
You forget ebay that also going in the opposite direction without any merit

Amazon and eBay are at the top of the mountain, the others are generally and will always be below /(etsy, mercary)
These last two will always have to compete by lowering prices and that...
eBay and Amazon are big and the big ones don't lower rates

13,55 % +3 % is too high, you must have been penalised by eBay or you are selling in certain categories with higher fee/
that 3% is a punishment for bad behavior.

This is only your personal experience. Truth is that you want to sell "for real" you have to sponsor and if you go under 20% total is a bargain
eBay in my point of view is the most expensive for what it offer actually

Agreed with the mafia boss above me. I'm paying 30% or more in fees on almost every sale after promoted standard and advanced. I had to cut out the offsite ads and "promoted display" ads after realizing I paid like $600 in a 30 day period for something like 20 sales totaling less than $500.

Competition among online marketplaces is driving down seller fees, with eBay potentially lowering fees below 10% to attract more merchants , contrasting Amazon's approach of maintaining or increasing fees.

eBay lower fees. Ya right, they can't even bring sales right now yet they want to charge filet mignon prices.
They screwed themselves already within less than a year.
