 How I changed my IP address with a modem.
I just wanted to send a quick message to all of those who have a modem and are running a simple Windows XP like me and have been discouraged about changing your IP address. Here is what I did....
At first I had tried unplugging it for 20-60 minutes and nothing happened. I then tried a full day and a half and I still had the same IP. Lastly, I unplugged the modem on a Monday night and NEVER turned on or touched the Internet until Friday afternoon and I had a new IP address. Please keep in mind that my address is Dynamic.
To say the least, I was very discouraged because I could not get a new IP. I called my ISP and they said that they could change it and did not have the capability to do so. I recieved 3 different answers from 3 different Reps.
By reading the STEALTH and taking in some great advice from the members within, I was able to come up with a new IP with a little time and patience. It was that simple! Hope this can be of some help to anyone who is having similar problems that I had.
