Reseting cable modem IP

Ok, I had a Mediacom cable modem, when I would lose an ebay or a paypal I would trade in my modem for a new one and get a new ip address. Just told them the modem didn't work anymore. Was having trouble using Kodi to watch movies on my family room tv and the Mediacom tech told me to get a new router and modem (he recommended netgear). So I just lost my ebay and paypal but am lost trying to get a new IP address. Tried leaving modem off for a couple of hours but with no success.

Can anyone help me.

My god, you lose more ebays and paypals than anyone I know!

Why wont they let you get a different one anymore?

I don't have there modem, I have one I bought on advice of their technician. My question was since I don't have their money to swap and get a new IP how do I get a new IP, and yes I lose a lot of ebay accounts and paypals due to what I am selling, but since I have like $10K of merchandise I have to keep selling it till the items are gone.

Logging into the netgear router and changing the WAN MAC address is the only way I know to get a new IP by messing around with your network equipment. Works with some ISP's and not others.

Yeah... I wasn't about to start giving him complicated options lol.. with them being ISP dependent.

It's not that bad. Go to 192.168.0.1 or 10.0.0.1 (depending on which private network your router uses) -> login -> WAN Settings -> MAC Address.

Worth a shot. Or not. Use wifi hotspot on your phone, Kajun?

Sure wish there was a way to block your asinine comments. Asinine look it up since you probably don't know what it means. You really need to get a life.

You actually can block users, then their comments don't show up anymore in forums.

While we're on the subject of all the accounts you lose, how is the Ebay account doing that you attached on old Paypal account to? Or whatever it was that you did?

Well Still going strong and have made about $10K so far this year and only keep $50 in the paypal so if it does get limited I am out $50.

This one 6-7 months, the other one I did the same to did not last but I was selling "dodgy" items but it was a 500,000 acct and wanted to try to hold on to it. But no such luck. If I didn't make $80 profit off of a $95 sale I would not sell the dodgy stuff.

:\ I'm not a big fan of just lieing about something not working. It's a burden to the company.
