IP address question...

hey guys =) so i am trying to change my IP... i am using verizon fios for internet and i believe i have a static ip address. i have tried unplugging, leaving off for some time, pressing reset button.. everything. it still isnt changing...

if anyone has fios and knows how to do this easily i would greatly appreciate it =) also, i know how to go into the router settings and i see where you can release the ip and obtain a new one, but i have tried to do it 3 times on my wireless laptop and had no luck... do you know if accessing this on my main desktop computer will change it? the main desktop is the one directly connected to the router... any help would be appreciated!

Are you able to change the MAC address in your router? If so, then it will change your IP for whatever computer runs through that router to access the internet

i think there is an option to do that.... i will have to try and see case I know i've changed it before somehow and i need to do it again! and what about if i just release the ip that i have? should i try that before changing the mac address?

Your MAC address is going to look something like 00:24:00:28:C3

What router do you have?

I'd really suggest you get the Stealth Book overall though

STATIC means it stays the same. When that is the case it can not usually be changed without going to the ISP provider & seeing if they will change for you.
