1. What router brand and model number of router you have. Sounds like your using linksys. For my old linksys 192.168.15.1 works.

2. Reset the router settings with the button on the back of the router - read the manual for this and pop the cd in might help.

3. Don't freak out and make sure your router is working. Some routers have problems and fail. I bought 2 refurbished linksys routers before and they worked for less than 1 month. I ended up selling them since I could not return them.

Are you using a wireless computer to do this or are you directly connected to the router?

Where did you get the 198.162.100.1 at?

Try 192.168.1.1

If its windows 7

Go to the internet icon on the bottom bar and click on it.

Click on Open network and sharing center

On the next screen you will see a PC a house and Internet in a line at the top of the page

Click on the house in the middle

On the next screen go down to network infrastructure

Underneath the heading you will see your router

Right click on it and you have the option to view device webpage

Click on that and it will take you to yiour routers web page.

This is only one of the ways to get to your routers ip address from your browser if its forgotten, there are other ways this is the simpleist to explain.
