Default IP Problem with Dlink Router

I have set up my first stealth account under new user, IP, name, bank, card, address etc etc
So far so good.

I have encountered a problem since I want to set up another couple of stealth accounts so I can sell few items on each account and so I am not totally cut off from selling and losing money again...
My IP wont change!

I successfully changed it 3 times when setting up my first stealth account but as of today the IP just wont change no matter what I do.
All I did previously was switch of the router for a few minutes.
I have tried everything today:
Switching it off for a couple of hours
Manually changing MAC address (it does not connect to the internet when i do this)
Messing around with settings etc but no luck

Has anyone got any clues as to why it would just change its mind and decide it dont want to give me new IP's anymore

Thanks in advance

I use a router as my main modem.. joey what you might want to try is manually disabling the adapter on the computer and then re-enadling its usually a good idea.

When im at home I cant change it I have to use a wireless dongle.

What ISP you with?

First question would be who is your ISP?

Do you have cable broadband and is it one of the new Virgin routers?

If so then you may have a problem as these are now being assigned Static IP addresses

Did you reset your modem after changing your MAC address?

I have had this router about 2 years, It is cable broadband but the IP is Dynamic as far as I can see in the settings.

This is stressing me out so much now, yesterday it was fine, today is a very different story... Bit like EB and PP actually!!

Doesn't matter what setting are on the router if virgin assign a Static IP to your mac address then it will stay that way regardless.

Calling Virgin and asking if you have been assigned a Static IP would be the first thing before messing with the router. If you hadn't changed anything on it since the day before then the issue must be on your ISP side.

You may have used up all the routing table and it will need to be reset by virgin.

I will give them a call, Just a bit worried about what exactly to say to them. What is a valid reason for wanting new IP addresses?

If this fails is there another easier way to obtain new IP addresses? Or are new dongles and routers the only way.
I am hoping to do this the cheapest way possible as ebay have lost me a lot of money

You just need to ask if you have been assigned a static ip, that's all.

If you have then ask if this is now standard that all accounts are getting, if they say yes then you need to think about changing ISP or using a dongle.

Unfortunately with stealth to be effective you need to spend some money to make it work.

Just ask yourself how much is your e/b income worth?

I have just done a forum search and found its a common problem with Virgin media. I should have done a search in the first place.. doh!
Baffled me as to why it was working yesterday though

Thank you for your input, I have ordered my 3 dongle so will set up second stealth using that, £15 per month is worth the extra income I will get from sales.

Wise move, a dongle is much more versatile and can be used for multiple accounts with good record keeping.
