1. On some devices, a simple power on/off will release the IP address from DHCP and you will be assigned a new IP address.
2. On other setups, you need to access your router's web GUI (usually type 192.168.1.1 in your browser). From there, you would modify the last 2 digits of the router's WAN MAC address. Power off the router and restart and your modem should detect it as a different device...that causes your ISP to assign a new IP to you.
You could do the first part remotely by accessing the router's web GUI, but you would still need your neighbor to power on/off the router. Quote:
