Default Changing IP Problems

My internet provider is AT&T. I have their router/modem combo unit and have not been able to change my IP using the methods described in Stealth. AT&T tells me I cannot change my IP because the router/modem automatically restores itself to the factory default. Anyone know how to get around this?

Use a VPN to easily change your IP without meddling your router or modem.

If you have Uverse you have a Static IP and it is always stays the same. Resetting the modem/router will do nothing. Spoofing the MAC will not help either. If you still have access to DSL you can adjust the modem lease time down to 10 seconds and do a soft reset. This will release the ip address and allow you to get a new ip, without doing a hard reboot and restoring your original ip.

VPN is cheap but still leaves a place for a mistake. One time you can forget to connect to VPN, login to ebay and get an instant suspension. VPS is better, as before using it, you must login, thus eliminating any possibility of using a local computer with it's IP and cookies. I personally have a separate VPS for each stealth I use. A relatively cheap way of producing VPS is to rent a dedicated server, and place a hypervisor OS inside.

Simple solution for forgetting to login to VPN / have it startup on computer start or when VMware starts

Yes, that is what I found out with Uverse. Looks like only way around it is to cancel Uverse and go with another provider. After 2 weeks of trying to Stealth with Uverse, I'm still no closer to finding a workable solution!!

As mentioned before, ATT Uverse is just not Stealth Friendly. It would also be a bad idea to change providers IF you have other people in the house using ATT Uverse for internet, etc, if your the only one then you can always try and find another provider.

For Example, I use a Mifi, phone tethering for my Stealth needs only because my internet is used by my family....make's no sense for me to be unplugging the Modem/Router all the time.

It's only me & my husband on the internet, so changing providers will be easy. We're moving in 10 days, so I'll be making the switch then.

Well don't forget that there are other options also:
1. Phone Tethering
2. Mifi/Dongle
3. DialUp
4. VPN/VPS

Mifi/Dongle is the option I will be trialing this weekend! Hopefully I can get an extra IP address so I can multi task accounts!
