Selling on Ebay, do I have to pay tax?
 

Hello, I am interested in selling digital products on ebay, like ebook.
I don't live in USA, but my friend lives there and he says he will open a separate bank account and make paypal and let me use it for this purpose.

My question is = If I receive money from ebay sales in paypal, is there any income tax on it? Is stealth ebay/paypal account any different in this matter?

I don't want to put my friend in any trouble, I am very confused, please guide!

I am sorry if this is a newbie question, im new to all this. we all got to start somewhere right?

The only concern i have is that is the income that I get from sales will be taxed? or is online selling exempted?

Once again, my apologies if I shouldn't be asking this but I seriously want to learn how things work.

No, online selling is not exempt from taxes. If your friend takes monies for you, he becomes responsible for the money.

This is one reason, we advise not to use friends info.

Can you answer this question for me,please. Does your friend come from your community?

Thanks for the input. Yes, my friend is from my community but it has been a long time since he migrated permanently to USA, more than a few years.

So is there like a certain threshold after which the tax starts or is it applicable no matter how little your selling business is? And even if you sell virtual things, no physical items? Honestly all I want is to make 3-400$ month in the start and i will be happy!

If it's not big money, just don't think about it. For turnover you can pay tax, but also there is some ways to avoid it, i mean pay less tax.

If you live outside US the answer is simply... No you don't have to.

Your income is reported once you receive more than 20k or have over 200 transactions. Otherwise, it's kinda like a yard sale, your suppose to pay taxes oni it, but whose gonna know if you don't tell them.

Its every government policy, and its different from other if govt has policy to charged tax or not. I think you should have to check with your government.
