Don`t bother trying to explain wifi & all that stuff here, but please tell me some place on the web where I can read up on what you all are talking about. Sometimes, heck, all the time it takes me awhile to catch on , so I have to keep going over stuff.
Please.
Thanks

No need to worry at this point that the MAC address will be traced by ebay. Provided you do the usual clear cookies, run ccleaner etc, you will be OK. Two points though. Start an excel file of everything you do or if you are not computer literate use stickies. In other words have a log and note your IP.
Also try IP Burger - What is my IP Address? Find Your IP Address! .On aspkin's recommendation I switched to that for my OZ accounts. Functions very well.;)

Thank you very much..GreenBean

I am still worried about it, and just started with VMware..Hope that works well..
And new account is working pretty good ..

I may be wrong, BUT, I think you'll find you need one dial up account for each ebay account to ensure unrelated IP addresses ;)

You only need one dial-up account. Each time you disconnect and re-connect, a new, random IP is retrieved from the ISP.

Occasionally if you keep using the same number to dial into the ISP you might get the same IP address. Thats why it is recommended to use dial-up numbers from different cities so that you will get a whole new range of IP's to retrieve from the ISP.

And like mentioned in other posts, its even better when you have a long distance plan with your phone provider, and then use your dial-up with a city that has a long distance number. You will get the range of IP's from that long distance city your are dialing in to.

I hope that makes sense....

what you need to do and i think will work best for you is get aol dialup, so everytime you log on to the internet you will have a different ip address so you dont have to run around to any coffee shop, you should give it a try, aol lets you test drive their internet service for free for a period of time, but you need to pick up the cd which they give out in places like bestbuy, target, radio shack.... etc. the cd is free so you dont have to worry about paying for the cd either, and after that just install it in your comp. follow the simple instructions and your good to go... goodluck =)

I am worried about keeping all this info straight on each ebay account. i understand the excel, but i am beginng to think i am going to have to make a picture... no a diagram for each one. Otherwise I am afraid I will goof up.a picture.

ebayhateluv 05-15-2008 11:52 PM

HI: I use post it notes, and a Index card file box, with tab dividers,
new accts/use now/suspended/debit cards/paypal accts used/paypal accts pending/

MasterChief 05-17-2008 10:15 AM

I use Excel files.
1 file per ebay/paypal name.
Separate sheets in each file for IP Addresses (in order), items listed/sold and basic Data (⊗⊗⊗⊗ phone no. account names/passwords, secret questions etc etc)

I save these files in one place, and on another Hard Drive I copy/paste them in case the first one crashes (about once every fortnight). And I use a online storage space (like box.net) to have a third backup.

For the online one, I RAR (compress and zip) the files, then encrypt it with http://www.encryptfiles.net/ so no sys op online will have incentives to peek.

This is all cause Im paranoid - dont really sell that much on ebay :p

Wifi is basically just wireless internet. Some places like starbucks have routers that you can bring your laptop into and get on the internet by using starbucks wireless connection.

hope that helps.

yogarelax 05-18-2008 04:19 PM

Yes,
That helps.
Thanks

Has anyone tried this? Changing like the "apt or PMB" number on an account and being fine with eBay??

ebayhateluv 05-18-2008 07:21 PM

HI: If youre going immediately form one acct banned to opening a new one, you may wanna try a diff addy first--then go back and use this one a few months later--letting it oool off..at least this is how i do it..

my last two steps in creating an new account

Hello everyone,

I read the eBook up and down and side to side twice... i am full of knowledge that i never though i would be thinking of...

anyways, right before i make my new account, i still have questions about two things:

1. When creating my address, can someone confirm that i will be safe to swap numbers on my address? for example 6759 chester park, xx, xxxxx will it be safe to put down 6795 chester par, xx, xxxxx ???

2. i just came from my bank (BOA) and created a new checking account, will i be safe to put that new checking account in ebay and paypal? it is tied to my real information of course...

thanks in advanced.

Peligroso

aspkin 05-23-2008 12:45 PM

1. Yes, that should be fine.

2. And yes, that'll work as well.

Try to get your Paypal account verified and confirmed before you do anything major with eBay. Good luck!

Peligroso 05-23-2008 01:23 PM

ASPKIN...
i would like to personally thank you for all the information you have provided to us in the eBook.

i feel comfortable now to create an account tonight, follow your guide to stay under the raider and start selling... i have been out of ebay for nearly 3 weeks and it is starting to hurt. ebay is not my main source of income, but after not having income coming in from ebay, i am starting to feel the difference.

thanks again,

Peligroso

Peligroso 05-23-2008 01:26 PM

Oh, i forgot to ask one more thing...

as i mentioned above, this is not my main source of income, i work at a hospital in the IT dept... several of us have ebay accounts and sell a lot (up until i got banned), people are always checking their ebay sells and such during work ours, will it be wise for me to stay away from my ebay account/s when i am at work... given the IP address issues???

Junkymail 05-30-2008 07:44 PM

A Very Simple Tip...

...when you are running multiple accounts that have ⊗⊗⊗⊗ data...

Make sure you back up whatever files you're using that are keeping track of these accounts!

I use excel spreadsheets, and unfortunately for me, STUPID VISTA CRASHED and BURNED. I had to format my laptop (downgraded to XP because VISTA is HORRIBLE) and am now using a file recovery program to retrieve my files....

Considering I have many accounts and don't remember every single password, secret questions/answers, or even the names associated with each account, this made me quite frustrated.

I did email the spreadsheets to myself, but not on a regular basis... so some data from the newer accounts will be lost if I can't recover the spreadsheet.

So yes people, learn from my bad experience. Make sure you have back ups!! The minute I recover my files I will not only email the most recent versions to myself, I will be printing off hard copies, and maybe even doing it the "ole fashioned way" via pen and paper ala greenbean and ebayhateluv :p

P.S. I hate vista. I will be doing EVERYTHING IMPORTANT from my macbook pro from now on. BAH VISTA!!! *rant rant rant*

ebayhateluv 05-30-2008 07:52 PM

>>> POST IT NOTES + an Index card file--carry with ya all the time.. :)

Junkymail 05-30-2008 08:01 PM

Yes I'm liking the little index cards :) I have a little index card box with dividers and everything that I've had since Christmas! Never used it, but I will start tonight!

Post it notes hate me though. They always end up sticking on other random things! :p

yogarelax 05-30-2008 08:29 PM

I am so glad you told us this[not glad it happened } . This is my theory: I am compliling ALL of everything into a notebook, keeping it in something fireproof, in a corner of the basement.{I live in Oz land Tornado alley}. I am pretending I am dead and I am my son tyring to find everything. So far he {in pretend } is really having a fit. but slowly ....
I am learning Excel, etc. so some things I just print off ...and also copy to a disc.
Thanks...

GreenBean 05-30-2008 09:39 PM

Of course, this is a gal thing! Only the gals do the housework, the tidying up
and keep meticulous notes about ebay.:D

yogarelax 05-30-2008 09:49 PM

Greenbean:
How funny , but , I believe you are correct. I also have a low threshold of pain. And ebay has caused me enough for the next 10 years.
