From what I have heard, it`s decent - few sellers I know use it - have not tried much with it. What`s the % commission charged?

Alertpay isn't very popular. That's the main problem. Not many users. However they are legit and respect their clients much more than Paypal.

Default Alertpay

I just went through their verification process. Not bad. But they do hold funds for 21 days before release on all new sellers.

Avoid it like the black plague!!
When PayPal limits an account you can get your money back. Alertpay will just take....

Alertpay will, and does all the time, take money from one account to pay off a debt from someone that has sent you money. Guilt by association

I can not stress enough NOT to use them. I dont even see them being around in a year. The only reason they have survived is because people that cant use paypal go to them.

They reverse payments and pull money out like crazy. Just because you got a payment from someone who is shady

Dont walk away, run

EDIT: They went about 2 or 3 weeks recently where they were not permitted to accept Visa or MasterCard. What does that say?? Not sure if they can now, but are you going to trust a company that gets locked out of visa and mastercard for a couple weeks?

I'm too lazy to look into if they can now. But do some research before risking your cash

In the news section on Alertpay's website, it has a note from December 7 about not being able to take Visa and Mastercard. Although it's now the 18th, no change to that message has been made on their website so it looks like it's still a problem.

Can't take Visa or Mastercard? How ghetto is this service becoming...

I knew the founder back when he was selling comic books from his basement - this shadiness does not surprise me ha

You know the guy that started Alertpay? I thought they were supposed to be Israelis or something, no?

In any case, they have a bad rep and getting worse. Take all your PayPal nightmares and multiply by 100. They seem to get away with whatever they want when it comes to closing accounts and keeping the money. How, I'm not sure

I think it boils down to a hard "them not us" attitude and they do what it takes to get money from a negative account. Including taking it from another user

Naw the guy who started Alertpay is from Montreal pod - you can read many articles about him on the Net. His whole family is biz-oriented.

I think they have been prob screwed by a lot of fraudsters and have lost cred with Visa/Mastercard - anyhow, sux for them.

Thats why these start up payment places dont last. They get screwed from scammers but then take it out on clients. It doesn't work that way. They just end up dead and in legal trouble.

Just like cashx. All is well until they get screwed a few times and they start cleaning out accounts to cover it. Then they get shut down. These guys want the 4% fees, but not the risk that comes with it....

If they haven't been able to use Visa and Mastercard fort a month, they are dead...

cashx cleaned out lots of accounts. Big legal problems now for the owner. They are completely shut down. Ironically he even screwed alertpay out of 250k...

For one, I was a customer. Lost 30 bucks so could have been worse

Just google cashx scam and it will pop up somewhere. Alertpay is suing Terry for 270k or something.

Do not touch Alertpay.

If its for a website there are lots of options. CCnow and 2CO if you dont mind higher fees @ 5%

Or you can go with a real merchant account that is usually around 2.5% or so. If you have a good relationship with your bank they can even set you up.

If you need to go with a 3rd party the fees will be a little higher. But setup is easy. You need a payment gateway. Not some fly by night PayPal copy like Alertpay.

CCnow and 2CO are good. I use both. But again, @5% the fees are 2 points higher then PayPal

Well most of the account sellers here take PayPal, Google or western union. I can not really see any easier way. Any ecurrency is going to be either risky or complicated. Liberty reserve for example is good, but unless the buyer uses it its a pain for them

If it was me, stick with what you know, PayPal. I have bought some stuff off here and the seller waits until funds clear to bank to complete sale. Thats more then reasonable in this line of work
