| | | Chris Hanson | 07-12-2007 04:52 PM | Jack,
to be honest, it is right that Ebay busted you for buying feedback. You were trying to manipulate the feedback system which against their rules and policies. Honestly I would feel tricked if I bought from somebody that bought tons of feedback.
Not to bust your balls or anything |
| JackNoMore | 07-13-2007 11:52 AM | Actually Chris, it was an interesting item that I thought I could use. And it just so happened to get me a little closer to my goal. And it was ONE item. Not 5, 10, 20. One. How ebay got that I was "buying feedback" from that is beyond me. |
| simogold | 07-13-2007 03:06 PM | i got my first order from google checkout using ebay as an auction site for PS3 console.i was suprised that the bids were normal same as you have paypal and the customers asked about method of payments.
i am waiting now for the money to get to my account after i used the USPS confirmation delivery for the item (signature also for the item more than $200)
thank you guys |
| JackNoMore | 07-19-2007 11:53 AM | I think perhaps the Google Checkout word is starting to get out. Hopefully Paypal will soon just be "one of the options" soon.
LOL Modee. So what happened to the magic 8-ball they were using before? ;) |
| simogold | 07-19-2007 08:15 PM | bad News guys :( i just received an email from Google Checkout team stating:
We are unable to verify the account information provided during the
signup
process. Although you may still accept and charge new orders at this
time,
you must provide some additional information before you can receive any
future payouts.
Please photocopy/scan the following documents within five business
days:
1. The front and back of the credit or debit card you used to sign up.
For security purposes, please conceal the first 12 digits of your card
number, leaving only the last 4 digits visible.
2. The front of your driver's license. Please ensure it is a clear and
legible copy.
3. Proof of address for each address entered in your Google Checkout
merchant account. Acceptable forms of proof of address include the
following:
-driver's license with matching address
-bank statement
-credit card bill
-water, phone or other utility bill
-business license
4. The original supplier invoices/receipts for the following order:
Order # 234962017967099
The invoices must contain order details and your supplier's phone
number. In addition, we noticed that the bank account you provided for Google
Checkout is related to a virtual money service.
At this time, Google Checkout does not support the use of bank accounts
that are related to virtual money services.
i was using a prepaid card attached with US bank . i was working with it fine with paypal |
| georgesmith | 07-20-2007 10:43 AM | Give your real information to Google, regular stuff. I never got asked any of that verification stuff. |

I just wait until the EBAY auction is over and then email right then and ask if they wouldn't mind paying with G.checkout. I offer to take a few bucks off shipping. So far, everyone has been amenable. | I would first not offer any discount :)
Every single auction I have closed, my winning bidders have happily paid via Google Checkout, sometimes within minutes. |

| simogold | 07-22-2007 11:47 AM | i think that GoogleCheckout team are more nice that paypal team.
today i opened my email , i found that payout that they sent me.
saying i have to update my banking infos in the future in case if i want to receive any future orders. |
| simogold | 07-22-2007 01:49 PM | at least better than paypal . PP limits the account in this case. |

| georgesmith | 07-23-2007 09:40 PM | I'd go with Google Checkout Modee, atleast until the free credit card processing thing is over. Google Checkout is in the tv commercials of some large respectable online stores. And coming from a person who deals with transactions that can reach as high as 50k, it's a REALLY good service. |
| georgesmith | 07-23-2007 09:50 PM | Once logged in just go to the tab with your information, integration could be very useful to you. |

You can do this easily with PP, without having to buy outside software.
What I want to do, is on my ORDER page, just have a bunch of different buttons, and then also a cart button so customers can check at any time to see what is in it. A simplified sort of cart. | Click the integration tab, it gives you all information needed for your account to integrate google checkout if you don't just want to use their generated buttons. |
| georgesmith | 07-25-2007 10:55 AM | WOW, Google Checkout One of my clients today got a phone call from VISA and then contacted me stating what they said. They told my client that Google Checkout is considered unsafe and that Paypal is a more preferred online payment methods. Then they asked if he still wished to authorize the charge. He did, but WOW eBay seems to be using their Paypal banking license in Europe to the fullest extent. |
| tyandlayne | 08-01-2007 05:50 AM | Google Checkout I am having some problems setting up my google checkout, I am working on a old operating system.. Just wanted to know when you put in all your information does it ask for a banking account number for your money to go directly in? How excatly does this work???
I have a credit card with GreenDot and they come with a checking account number for direct deposit which is great...
Someone please get back with me soon I am going to the library to set this up today...
Thanks:confused: |
| coopster72 | 08-01-2007 09:14 AM | I set up my Google checkout a few days ago. I used all ⊗⊗⊗⊗ personal info. I should of just used my real info as Google and Ebay do not talk. But in my defense i was overly paranoid after just being suspended for the first time.
The only thing they ask for is your checking account and routing number. They obviously do not check names or addresses as the small deposit was made into my checking account yesterday. I went to the website and put in the amount of the deposit (just like Paypal) and my account is now verified and active. Hope that helps. |
| simogold | 08-01-2007 10:11 AM | the same for me. i am using only prepaid card associated with checking account.
i got verified and just received my first payout within 2 business days.
good luck. |
| ihatebay | 08-02-2007 05:14 PM | I liked Google CHeckout but it's a pain to manually invoice your buyers everytime.
Now I'm just using Auctiva and that way by putting in my merchant account info buyers can checkout right away. |
| Chris Hanson | 08-02-2007 10:30 PM | AHHH So somebody caught on |

| Ballsack | 08-03-2007 12:22 AM | I'm guessing everyone is using ⊗⊗⊗⊗ ssn numbers. I did the same thing a while back and they limited my account after only a few transacitons. Not sure if this was because of my ⊗⊗⊗⊗ ssn or because they didn't like my vpn ip number for whatever reason. |
| georgesmith | 08-03-2007 01:55 PM | why would we use ⊗⊗⊗⊗ ssn for google checkout?
Theres no reason to use ⊗⊗⊗⊗ info for your google checkout account. We use ⊗⊗⊗⊗ info for eBay because of their business practices, but for credit card processing on the internet its best to use your real info on google checkout, so you can continue to use it in the future and through other formats besides eBay |
| georgesmith | 10-07-2007 05:57 PM | Google Checkout, still the best alternative Been using them for months now. Going strong. It is the best alternative. When people ask you via the question form on eBay what payment method you ask, they have no worries when you say "we have a merchant account with GOOGLE CHECKOUT" since everyone knows google.
And customer service is great. Had one person try to do a chargeback. (Google didn't take the money out of my bank). They are giving me till the 16th of october to provide shipping proof which I have now as of a few days ago. From what I know of paypal and the likes, once theres a chargeback its pretty much over and they right away take it out of your bank. |
| longisland88 | 10-07-2007 06:09 PM | haha yep, really sad. It happened to me once and then paypal CHARGED ME AN EXTRA $10!! on top of what I lost from the chargeback. But I thought telling customers you have GC could get you in trouble? |
| pauluss | 10-08-2007 05:57 AM | over my 10 years trading on eBay - i like to think of 'chargebacks' as just leakage and an operational expense, like shop lifting from a retail enviroment
It is great that idea of gogglecheckout is starting to spread and gather popularity.
It is such a relief not to be totally reliant on PayPal anymore, no more PayPal saying 'JUMP' and us saying 'how hi ?' |
| aspkin | 10-08-2007 07:19 AM | That's good to know georgesmith. Its time we start migrating away from Paypal since eBay and paypal are linking accounts a lot easier now.
A merchant account will soon be the only way to go. |
| vers0 | 10-08-2007 09:23 PM | Aspkins, can I safely assume that having a merchant account also means the need to pay taxes to the government? |
| longisland88 | 10-08-2007 09:25 PM | I was wondering this also |
| Chris Hanson | 10-08-2007 09:25 PM | For the most part yes. But that also mean you can deduct ****. Like buy a computer a and say it is a business expense and deduct it at tax time |
| vers0 | 10-09-2007 01:58 AM | Chris, have you ever known anyone to be audited for not paying income taxes to the IRS. I currently am using eBay with Google checkout (Sometimes PayPal) and not to sure is these companies report anything to the IRS. I have read online that ebayers should report their income however also read that eBay does not report any information to the IRS. I purchase all of my items overseas and don't see how the IRS would find this out. I don't think Customs and the IRS communicate with each other. Just your thoughts... |
| Chris Hanson | 10-09-2007 11:48 AM | If you have a merchant account they do. Google checkout no.
But yeah yuou should always pay your taxes if your making alot of money. The IRS wont come after small time money makers but they will sit back and wait 2 or 3 years until you made a load of money then they'll come after you.
And if you do your business right, you really wont have to pay that much taxes. Get a book on business taxes etc.. You can deduct gas, computers and other supplies you use for your business from your taxes..
You can even deduct a trip overseas as a business expenses. |
| longisland88 | 10-09-2007 05:40 PM | I still have alot of questions on this. Should we open up another thread? |
| aspkin | 10-11-2007 05:57 PM | Quote:

If you're using a real merchant account, then yes you'll need to pay taxes on that.
Using Paypal and Checkout, you shouldn't have to worry about it too much, but I still pay my taxes on everything I earn. I don't want my toys taking away for non-payment!
By the way, great information Modee. I gave you some rep points for that. :p |
| longisland88 | 10-21-2007 05:08 PM | what about when you withdraw $$ from GC or PP to your bank do they report it to the feds? I have around 4K right now that im about to withdraw from PP by check. I currently have bank of america. Should I open up another bank account with a local bank in my town? |
| Chris Hanson | 10-21-2007 05:12 PM | just pay your taxes. Your posting in a forum how to avoid taxes.. Good way to get caught. feds /government dont play when it comes to that |
| longisland88 | 10-21-2007 08:13 PM | thanks for the facts modee I think I know what im gonna do now. The way I withdraw funds for my PP account now is by requesting a check from them(since I cant use their debit card anymore). but not for long! I finally let go and signed up for GC and cartmanager the other day and had no problem linking them with ebay. It was actually MUCH easier than I anticipated. Im just waiting for GC to verify my bank account. woo hoo!! |
| Killed by Ebay | 10-21-2007 11:15 PM | What is ur definition of alot of money? I only sell basically from sept. to dec. and make about 10k during that span. |
| kevinxu | 10-22-2007 09:11 AM | is there anyway for the ppl outside of us and uk to sign up google checkout seller account? |
| kevinxu | 10-22-2007 09:26 AM | i'm not in us but i do have the real us bank account so is that ok if i use unreal us address and virtual credit card to register google checkout? | | All times are GMT -5. The time now is 11:00 AM. | |
