Just curious but does google checkout call you up or put a freeze on your account when you begin to take in sales like paypal? Not sure if anything has changed since I first joined them. I decided to open a $500 limit account with them the other day just for the hell of it.

Van Player 02-12-2008 11:59 PM

i would seriously advise against putting in any links to outside checkout url, or to another url for redirection using php... i had listings removed due to this. it is against feebay TOS (circumventing ebay fees of some BS like that ?), and they do have bots to monitor this, and will suspend listings, leading to suspension possibly.

however, if in a checkout / invoice type of email after the completion of auction, i think it will be ok as I eb will not be able to monitor it unless you send it through their system.

Ballsack 02-18-2008 03:14 PM

Who signed up for a google checkout account last year and

didn't need to input their SSN to lift any kind of limit on the account? Based on what I read here I may want to purchase an account if anyone has any extras lying around :)

Nutsack - Do you give them your real information when signing up with Googlecheckout?

Thanks

LoveEbayNHateEbay 03-03-2008 12:54 PM

Google has my real information. And my account has no limits. All of my non Ebay business goes through Google.

ebayaintstupid 03-04-2008 06:34 PM

Are there ways to use Google Checkout on EBAY?

I have not found a way yet. I have tried indirect links, but people don't seem to buy anything when I do that.

Just curious what clever ideas the folks here on the board have come up with.

Manually sending the invoices, taht what i do, but it is a pain in the ass

GreenBean 03-04-2008 11:29 PM

He** yes. Google checkout can work OK. There is a thread called Merchant
Accounts and there is a heap of information about using google checkout. What
is REALLY tops is the instructions on how to set it up within your ebay account.
A lot of forum users make use of this little 'gift'. Have a read of the info and post
from there if there are more questions.

Ballsack 03-05-2008 02:09 AM

Just manually send the invoices. The problem is ppl will ignore it thinking they already paid you by paypal. It doesn't even work when you warn ppl you don't take paypal in your auction. Bidders just don't care to read anything. Unfortunately you'll just have to deal with it.

Definately not. But then again I'm limited to $500 a month.

viking23 03-12-2008 11:02 AM

Google checkout?

I just signed up and verified Google checkout,i am using real info as i will be using it with a website I am creating.(need to move beyond Ebay/Paypal)
The question is,I just sent myself an invoice to see what it looks like and it shows my business name address and phone #,which are all real.
I also want to send these invoices to my Ebay customers from my "⊗⊗⊗⊗" Ebay accounts, but dont want them to see my real info on Google checkout,in case they contact Ebay for any reason.
Any ideas?
Thanks for you're help

Killed by Ebay 03-12-2008 01:30 PM

I have been using google checkout for about 4 months now on ebay. I use it on 3 different accounts. So far out of hundreds of transactions i only had 2 people question the names and addresses being different. I told them both i am in business with a friend and he sells the items on ebay and i handle the funds

sycore 03-13-2008 08:15 AM

I am new to google checkout for selling stuff. How do you physically get your money? Do they bank transfer, send check? Any wait time before you can "cash out"? I guess I could just sign up and see, but they really do not explain it well and would like to know what I an getting into.

viking23 03-13-2008 08:39 AM

Hi
Thanks for the reply,i will try that.
Are you sending invoices manually after the auction ends?
Did you check the merchant account box and have to fax Ebay?

thelizardking 03-13-2008 08:44 AM

They initiated a deposit to my bank automatically when I charged the buyers card and shipped, beforehand they have you do a verification similar to paypal with a small deposit...usually shows up in 3-4 days after charging the card...I haven't used it alot, but it just withdrew it for me...

myshtern 03-16-2008 01:27 PM

How to use google checkout?

We want to use checkout for our auctions, how do we do it?

mantisinc 03-16-2008 01:28 PM

Search the forums... that's how!

ebayhateluv 03-16-2008 02:52 PM

HI, Mys:
Theres several sections on integrating google checkout, Modee wrote some very good articles.
If u go to the right hand side top--"search"--drop down, and search for google checkout- it will pull up alot..
+++ on the main page-about 1/2 way down- u will see merchant acct/alternatives..

TMiles 03-16-2008 06:07 PM

Thanks "KilledbyEbay"...This answered one of my posts.

I am curious, how do you get around Ebay's new requirement for high risk items like consumer electronics. It seems, EBay requires a "safe" payment method, for which they do not like "Google checkout."

TMiles 03-16-2008 06:13 PM

Ballsack,

Yes Google checkout will want social security numbers or Tax ID to increase your monthly withdraw limit above $500 per month.

Likewise, if you sell $10,000, and want to withdraw more than $500, they want to to verify who you are.

doughboykilla 03-19-2008 07:13 PM

G.Checkout has a No No list and if u sell sumthing on this list and buyers are bitching about it google will suppened your account and refund any money that has been yet paid out so when useing google its a good idea to wait till your paid before shipping the stuff!

viking23 03-25-2008 09:59 AM

0-3 on Google Checkout

Just started using Google checkout for the first time.
I am using it on a new account.
3 stiffs in a row, wtf! Sent each one a manual invoice at the end of the auction, and then at least 4 emails after asking them why they have not paid or responded.
Then each time i went back into Ebay and sent a mail from Ebay, still nada.
I invoice myself a copy each time so i know they are getting the invoices.
Now what? (Suckpal again)?

Killed by Ebay 03-25-2008 10:14 AM

how long has it been?

viking23 03-25-2008 11:07 AM

11-12 days on the first 2 losers and 3 days on most recent loser.
People not even emailing back.

Killed by Ebay 03-25-2008 11:56 AM

Ive been using google for months now, I get some non paying bidders but i would say its at about the same ratio that it was when i was using paypal

thelizardking 03-25-2008 05:18 PM

Yeah I tried using GCO and only got 1 out of about 25 buyers to use it...I started using Ccnow and got the other 24 to use it, and everyone since with no questions or hassles...

doughboykilla 03-25-2008 05:33 PM

i also noticed that if buyers have yahoo emails that the buyers wont get the invoice from GCO.

thelizardking 03-25-2008 05:34 PM

Yeah I thought this too, but not sure...Plus I think they have to sign up with Google to use GCO too...

ebayhateluv 03-25-2008 05:38 PM

HI Guys.. I do get some folks intent on just paypal.. So, they simply get the UPI after day 8..then they pay quick...

Jonas 03-26-2008 01:42 AM

ebayhateluv, I've found if they can't be budged, they often just don't pay and then they cause problems, then get their strike removed.

Ballsack 04-17-2008 11:44 PM

The first time you invoice them just send like 6 to 8 GCO invoices to their email. lol. Google makes it real easy to do this. Psychologically ppl will sometimes feel a sense of urgency when they see that many emails. When you post one sometimes they'll put it off for whatever reason. Trust me you'll get a response from the buyer. lol

viking23 04-18-2008 09:09 AM

Seems like a good idea sending 6-8 invoices from Google to each person.
I sent 3 last night and will send 3 more today on an auction that ended last night.
Got nothing to lose, since most are not even replying back.
I am putting in the invoice that my customers are having trouble receiving the invoice from google checkout,so I am sending it multiple times to make sure you get it.
And I ask them to respond once they receive it.
We will see.(holding breath):D

doughboykilla 04-18-2008 10:21 AM

i always send like 10 invoices to each of my buyers alot of them gets pissed cause i send so many but at least i know they get them

also u need to email all your customers and make sure they check the spam folder for the invoices

ebaywillpay 04-30-2008 04:18 AM

Google CheckOut Shipping/Payment Do's and Dont's

An Admin from this Forum suggested that i post this question as it may be informative to some users here who are in the process of opening a Google Merchant Account.

After you receive payment through GCO do you have to ship the item and provide the tracking # 1st before your payed?

viking23 04-30-2008 09:47 AM

No,they pay and you dont need to mark your item shipped and provide tracking #.
CC now requires that but not google checkout.

Lisa B 04-30-2008 03:56 PM

I recently had 2 sales on eCrater and they paid me using GCO, it was great, the money automatically went into my account in 2-3 days and I didn't even have to do anything!

ebay-sucks 05-14-2008 09:06 AM

I just read this entire thread to see if GC is good or bad and if I should pursue it. Appears from the post some like it and some do not.

The one question I have that was asked in this thread and was not answered is when you send your customer and invoice and you are using real info with GC it shows up on the invoice?

Can someone confirm that is does?

And if it does this is a dead end street, it wouldn't take long for someone to see the different names and contact ebay with the info. You will get one of those customers in time.

I know we are all trying to get away from PP but if GC is a hassle too with different issues then I wonder if it is worth it.

Any thoughts on using GC would be appreciated.

doughboykilla 05-14-2008 11:39 AM

yeah your bussiness info shows up u can have your real info as your personal info and put what every address u want as a bussiness info

u dont have to use your real info on google i never used my real info and i had accounts last almost a year before it was took down and only reason was cause i was saleing high risk stuff

if ur selling legit stuff on google and have all happy customers then u have nothing to worry about

ebay-sucks 05-14-2008 03:13 PM

Conflicting info, some say you have to use your real info and some say you do not have to. Then there is a thread that they will ask for SS No.

Can someone comfirm the right way to do this and what is showing on the invoices sent to the buyers? I do not mind the business name but will not use it if it shows personal info.

Thank you

Rosanna 05-14-2008 08:46 PM

If you plan to withdraw more than $500 per month, you must give your Tax Id or SS#. Just put your ebay user id in the notes box. If you are doing tons of sales just try it with one customer to start, send the invoice quickly. Highlight the buyer protection, etc. of google checkout.
