Confusing Limitation on Paypal (Medium)
Ebay/Paypal user for 10 years - Good standing on both.
Been doing mass sales around $4000 month for the past two months. No issues at all (long time member, SSN on record, no threshhold).
I even have the Paypal Debit/Mastercard.
Here is what happened -- Been selling items at a steady pace. I had money in Paypal, so I started using the debit card to buy stuff online and used it like 8 times in a short amount of time (within 6 hours).
Then... my account got a limited - medium level - hit. Never had this before and Paypal still cannot tell me what it was for. The hit had Paypal request my photo ID, supplier/business information that I had to fill out, and also for proof the 5 recent items (dated the date of the hold) were shipped and arrived.
When I initially called, the guy was curious if I actually had the stuff I was selling in stock. This made me think that maybe my Paypal debit card transactions happening the same time I was receiving payments made it seem like I was buying items for those people (I wasn't). But, I don't normally use the card for purchases.
I gave my photo ID, gave my business info (my name and address). But, I was gonna be stuck for a good week or two until items paid for THAT DAY would arrive to the buyers.
Luckily, I talked to someone and he was able to remove the limit without the last step of me supplying the confirmation of 5 recent items were shipped.
So, I am confused. Having never experienced this, my overall question is IS an account limit something that someone at Paypal can just lift or was I just lucky? This would have hurt my business if the person at Paypal didn't remove it.
Can anyone guess what happened? The things Paypal wanted did make me think it was to check if items I sell are in stock. Thoughts? Thank you!
