It's time to get a merchant account folks. If you have bad credit work on it now! Because who wants to put up with Paypal's CRIP

but from so many threads, vendor accounts are not always so much better a choice

Fees are stiffer on merchant accounts but the key is volume - if you dabble, don't bother - if you're serious, yes - sure it's 5% abouts vs 1.9 or 2.9 from paypal - yes you will have longer holds but if you're working ok, you will operate well with merchant account - especially if it accepts paypal.
