Default Refund question.

I initiated a refund to a buyer ($80) but it is taking it from my bank account which is closed. My paypal account is limited with only half the refund amount available ($40). Will this refund go through and leave me with a negative balance or will the refund attempt fail. I want the buyer to get his refund so am wondering if I should send money to him from another account. Any advice would help! Thank you in advance!

once they notice the bank account is closed they will remove it then try charging your paypal balance so yes it will leave you with a negative balance

I forgot to mention, these were 'digital goods' that the buyer purchased. Will this make a difference as far as the buyer getting his refund smoothly?

no as long as its referred to as a product and you hit refund everything should go smoothly the only bad part if the account is in your name it will decrease your credit having a negative balance

No, it was stealth so I am not worried about that. I just want to ensure that the buyer is refunded with the least amount of hassle. OK, thanks again for your info and prompt replies!

Update: the refund was actually denied so it looks like Paypal is no longer willing to eat the negative balance.
