Activity: 0% Longevity: 56% | | Paypal Limited My Account for a purchase made 1 yr ago.
Hello, I'm new to the forum. I Decided To start a business. But I recently Got slapped with a perm limitation. What's worst is, The limitation was for a purchase that was made on my account 1yr ago. That violated the user agreement. Long story short. basically 1 yr ago I used to live with a few friends because I used to work with them. One of them took my passwords from a binder I had and used my paypal to purchase an Item on an xxx rated site. Not a big transaction. The only reason I didn't know until now is that at the time I was working at a refinery shutdown 7days a week and had no time to monitor my account. I tracked him down and he agreed to help.
I recently took 2 weeks off of my job to work on my business but have spent the majority of the time trying to get this perm limitation lifted. paypal said that the reason they banned me was that they could not find no sign of a 3rd party involved. I told them of course they can't. the reason being is because he was living with me and made the purchase on my computer using my passwords. I even offered to give paypal the name and number so they can call him or he can call them to verify this. Is there any way I can straighten this up with paypal? would it be better if I have my friend call them to explain the issue?
I am going to try to call them for about a month or 2 before I give up on this. I recently found a list of paypal executives numbers, would I have a better shot with them? if so how can I approach them? I can imagine they usually don't get phone calls from people that have been banned. Can I get some answers from people that have called these executives? which ones are actually helpful?
Should I send a message to the CEO through twitter? I am very exhausted I have tried a lot of phone calls except for calling these execs or the CEO. I don't really want to go stealth because I plan on doing a lot of business with the paypal account. If I understand correctly Stealth accounts are pretty much throwaway accounts.
At what point if any should I threaten them with a law suit? I have heard of a few people that have had success with that. I really don't want to do that though. My whole future rides on this. So any Ideas from people or from people that have had success unlimiting their account? Please No lame answers like your screwed!! this is serious stuff I'm dealing with. so stressed out. Thank you in advance for any helpful answers.

What's funny is that your purchase didn't really need to violate the agreement back then.. but if they changed it up and it violates it now? Too bad. Sorry to hear your loss.

EIN using stealth practices is always a secondary route.
Also you don't need to talk to the CEO. Who you want to talk to is the person who made the decision to limit your account or get on the phone with a senior executive. The call center people have no weight in anything that happens. They are just punching bags for angry people.

Your account was limited because an 'xxx' transactions? What?
I don't see the problem with starting a new business PayPal account, it's quite easy following the steps in the eBay stealth guide. And depending on how you setup your account(s) will determine it's tolerance for abuse. These accounts are not simply throw away accounts, they can be strong business accounts.

Yep, go stealth and make sure in future your flatmates buy their dildos with credit cards and not paypal.

Forget that one and start off and build 10 | I would have to disagree. While I encourage everyone to create have multiple stealth accounts ready to go. Even if you have legit accounts.
If you have a problem with eBay or PayPal you can get a resolution. You just have to learn who to talk to. Most people especially on this site complain about calling them and never getting anywhere. It is because they never get on the phone with somebody who has any pull with eBay/PP.
If you go to McDonalds and you get a **** burger. Yelling at the person at the counter does absolutely nothing. You want to speak with the manager and then even more so you want to speak with the Franchise Owner. Those are the people who can make things happen.
Not Rocket Science.

Thanks so far for all your answers & ideas. I think I'm going to call from a list of executives Phone numbers I found.
Has anyone ever called these numbers?
Should I have my friend that made this purchase call them and explain?
or
should I be the one that calls?
How should We approach these execs?
they probably don't get a lot of these calls.
Thanks much in advance for any helpful answers.

Personally, I think you are wasting a lot of time on all this.
First off, calling those numbers is going to get you nowhere. If you found them somewhere on the internet, odds are thousands of other people have tried the same thing. IF you're lucky enough to have someone even answer the phone, the executives don't have time to deal with the small guys like you and I. Frankly, they don't care. If you read around here you will learn that paypal and eBay work in mysterious ways, and sometimes people get banned for bogus reasons.
It sucks, but it happens. It's a part of doing business with these companies. Who knows, maybe after hours of tireless work and phone calls you do actually get the account reinstated? Eventually they will suspend your account for some other bogus.
Use your time wisely. Learn stealth. They aren't throw away accounts, but if you do mess up, you won't end up in a situation like this again. Go out and get the stealth guide, you'll be happy you did.

Thanks much in advance for any helpful answers. | On a forum users will reply with their own experiences.
You can not develop a mind set that answers are not helpful if you disagree. Be gracious users replied.
The Execs at paypal get many many calls. Reports of success vary.
I would first of all prepare an email of the facts that you posted here.
Include the contat details of your friend. Stress his willingness to let paypal know his part in the limitation your account. Be careful of saying exactly what he did ( steal your password: that makes you a security risk).
When you have the email complied, get the current emails of those execs and
call. In the course of talking let them you are also sending an email.
Send then.
Wait.
Hope. |

The next part of this issue is to ensure down the track no-one, and I mean no-one can asscess any account of yours.
Find safer means to protect passwords etc.
Good Luck |

Hope. | Emails go left unheard. They will say they send it to their account review department. The only success I have even known when having an account suspended or limited is physically getting someone on the phone if it is eBay from Trust and Safety. If it for PayPal I can't remember the exact name but it is like the account review department or something like that. They where in Omaha I believe. Get them on the phone and ask to talk to someone about a manual review of your account.

Thanks for your helpful answers.
Update! Somehow I was Able to open an Unauthorized transaction claim about this. Because it actually was not authorized by me. it's been 3 days still waiting on the seller to provide info about this transaction.
What are the chances I will win this claim? even though my Account is already limited. If I win this claim I can use it as leverage to get my account limitation lifted because the reason they said they limited me was for this very purchase.
Is there anything I can Do to help the investigation go in my favor? I.E. emails of info or anything? does anyone have any suggestions? should I call them?

Update! Strange Turn of events.
I was able to open an Unauthorized access claim. But Of course it was denied.
during the Claim I did contact the seller once and told him that I have been hacked and it would be great if he could comply with the investigation.
His reply was ok.
Then the claim was denied.
But here's the strange thing. I just got an email from the seller asking me if I still wanted my refund because He had Ip tracking info for this purchase and The IP address location did not match the physical address of purchase. He want on to state that The location of the Ip Address was from the same state but from another city. Therefore He said he was prepared to refund the amount when he saw this but that because My account was limited Paypal did not let him. He said that He could mail me the refund if I still wanted it. I declined the offer but instead asked him if he had this info before why did he not submit it to the Investigation?
He said He had began to but, at the same time they began to have technical issues and because paypal completed the investigation so fast the only thing he was able to provide paypal was this statement "according to his information and data that it appeared to be a fraudulent purchase and he advised paypal to refund!" He said they kept waiting for paypal to deduct the funds from their account but paypal never did.
I asked him if he could help me to prove that my account was accessed fraudulently? and he agreed but, He said that All they have is the IP address that shows the town that it was purchased around. He said they had actual invoices with the ip address but unfortunately they were deleted. He went on to say that He's not sure if paypal will take his word and just an Ip address. but he would try to help. Now I know this may slightly contradict some of my story but I really don't care. I guess this guy I used to live with just took my passwords and used them in another town. Probably from some free wifi place. All I want is to be able to use my paypal again.
Does anyone have any Ideas of how I can get paypals attention with this info?
Does Paypal Keep the Ip address of a purchase from a year ago? if so why didn't I win this dispute?
Now it would appear That this seller is a nice guy and is trying to help. But it's possible that since the seller is still active he is in danger of becoming limited if they limited my account for purchasing from him. since he's trying to help me how can I minimize his risk when telling paypal?
Should I Just tell paypal that the seller contacted me with this info and just put the screws to them to get my account back?
What department should I contact to try and maybe get this claim reopened?
ANy suggestions would be most helpful Thanks so much in advance.

It's already been suggested YOUR wasting time on this.
IF the SELLER of the XXX items hasn't had his account limited, why on earth would yours be for purchasing?
Doesn't sound quite right to me.
Putting the screws on paypal to get your account back won't work.

Putting the screws on paypal to get your account back won't work. | Of course, That's what I am trying to find out. If the seller has not had his account limited yet why would mine be for this purchase?
That's the Question That needs answering.
Please note this purchase is from a yr ago. To me, it sound like paypal is just pointing fingers without proof. I may be wrong though.
I have heard many stories of paypal just randomly limiting accounts with no proof. It may sound like I am wasting my time but if I get the account back I believe it was worth it. That's my opinion and we are all entitled to our own opinion.
I do appreciate your opinion though but Like I have stated before I believe I have been wronged and I intend to find proof.
Thanks for your reply

There are many options to try.
I just don't know the best option to try out in my situation.
I have been suggested many things. Before I Got the email from the seller I was told to send a Letter to paypal corporate to their legal department.
What does their legal department do?
anyways, Any possible methods to contact paypal with this new info would be great to hear.
