vincent_ | 07-17-2017 10:51 AM | Temporary Hold Pending Investigation Hi everyone,
I need some advice here.
A couple of weeks ago I sold an item to the buyer from Slovakia. That was his first transaction on that marketplace (it was not on Ebay if it matters). I shipped the item right away and according to the tracking number it was successfully delivered.
Today I received an email from Paypal saying the following: "Recently, PayPal received a notification from a user regarding unauthorized access to his PayPal account. As a result, one of the payments credited to your PayPal account has been placed in a temporary hold while we investigate the claim. PayPal constantly monitors transactions for unauthorized use of accounts in order to maintain the safety of our users.
If you have already shipped goods, please provide PayPal with the following information:
1) Tracking Number of Shipment
2) Shipping Company Used
3) Shipping Insurance Information (if used)
As I mentioned earlier I did shipped with tracking #. I didn't add it to PP though, simply because the country I ship it from doesn't match the country I'm using PP in. For Paypal it looks like I'm located in Thailand, but the item was dispatched from Europe.
Now in order to win the case and save my money I obviously have to provide the tracking to PP. And my question is: would Paypal care about where the item was shipped from? |

vincent_ | 07-17-2017 01:16 PM | Re: Temporary Hold Pending Investigation I do understand that. Most likely I'll lose this money (it was a fairly large transaction) unless I can prove shipment.
And I can prove it, but there is one thing I'm worried about: PP would see that the item was shipped from Europe (not Thailand) and start to ask questions. |

Worst case scenario for you is you lose the money and the account which you'd at least lose the money if you did nothing at all |
Qwoty | 07-17-2017 06:12 PM | Re: Temporary Hold Pending Investigation the tracking number wont have any bearing whatsover on this case as it is not an item not recieved case. This case hinges on how the investigation will be concluded. If the buyer is found wanting and his/or her account doesnt have any evidence of intrusion, then your money is secure. |

At the same time, am I really risking here? Does Paypal care about where the item shipped from? I had no luck searching for any similar threads, that's why I started this one.
I know there is nothing written in stone when it comes to Paypal, but if anyone willing to share his opinion/experience on that matter - I would really appreciate it |

So adding the tracking number won't make much difference in this case? |

I use EU paypal and ship from Thailand. Had a few similar cases, paypal never cared where the paypal account is and where I shipped from. Only thing that matters is, that the number is trackable online and if the item was delivered and signed for. Then you'll win the case and get the $$$

Jigsaw | 07-18-2017 08:54 AM | Re: Temporary Hold Pending Investigation Just provide them the tracking number. I used tracking numbers from different countries before and never been questioned why. The only thing PayPal will care about in this case, is whether they can confirm the item is delivered or not. |

vincent_ | 07-18-2017 12:01 PM | Re: Temporary Hold Pending Investigation Thank you guys for your inputs! I just provided the tracking number and will post later with the updates of this case. Thanks again |
dallis | 07-19-2017 07:32 PM | Re: Temporary Hold Pending Investigation Yeah, they won't care, if they asked tell them you dropshipped from your supplier, but they won't ask.
Fact is, though, you're going to lose.
He's claiming the card was stolen, and that even could be true, theft of card numbers is rampant worldwide. |
vincent_ | 07-30-2017 10:20 AM | Re: Temporary Hold Pending Investigation In case someone is interested, here is some updates:
I provided the tracking number and didn't hear anything from Paypal for 10 days or something. Today I got an email informing me that the case has been resovled.
Seems like they are going to refund the buyer from their own pocket. At least, that's how I understand the notice in Resolution centre:
"Because this transaction is covered by our Seller Protection Policy, PayPal will refund the buyer the full amount of the unauthorised activity claim. This case is now closed". |
