Does paypal steal money?
 

Got my transfer of funds reversed from my bank. Saw it to, reversal paypal. Looked at paypal account, it's not there. Granted, it is Saturday, but still, will it still be there?

This is a pretty serious limitation, asking for DL, SSN, invoices, bank statement, the whole 9 yards.

Has anyone had their money outright stolen before by these asses?

If it is still showing pending in your account you can actually call your bank to request a stop payment on that transaction(35$) fee. Or simply tell the bank you did not authorized the transaction.

It will show up after midnight on Sunday night, ie Monday AM.

OP, I really hope I'm wrong but from experience if it says reversed, it'll be reversed back to paypal. It usually takes until midnight before it happens.

is it a lot of money? Has it hit the bank account yet or was it still in process then paypal reversed it?

I don't think they can steal money. First of all no body want to lose his reputation.They can't do.Check your account carefully maybe your funds still pending.Try to call your bank
and tell them your situation can you also stop the transaction process

To be clear, they can't "steal" it, because of the rules of business, stock value, etc.... but they CAN (and do) write the rules in their favor, and they can "freeze" it. Which means take it away from you, and keep it pending you providing this or that, according to their rules. Same thing as keeping it, but it's not "stealing" and it's always accounted for somehow.

So it never goes missing, or just taken away without reason (or excuse) but they CAN and DO take it. It's just a little more complicated and technical than "stealing" it.

But make no mistake, they are no more your friends than someone who WOULD outright steal it. I called in years ago after a problem (not my fault or doing) that got my account limited, and offered everything they wanted and asked for in the interest of resolving the issue, and they just collected the info and held it against me, with no interest in solving the problem or returning my money. If it weren't for Aspkin, the sting of being robbed and loosing the opportunity to use Fleabay would have been permanent.

Anyone that uses paypal ever notice them taking money from your account (even though its not owed to them? I have experienced this twice?
first time was 3 months ago when they refunded me for an item (less the 8.50 i was owed by them)

Second time was another refund (part of this was paid via bank transfer and the other part was with funds I already had in my Paypal Account)

Anyone any ideas on how I could possibly prosecute them?

I will only be using cheques from now on, it might take a longer time for it to clear in account, but at least it doesnt get stolen by Paypal

My rent money has been stolen from PayPal. It happened over one week ago now. They took my money when I tried to transfer it to my bank, same bank I always use. Nothing out of the ordinary. I have very little, I am a single parent. I am also starting all over in life due to a traumatic series of events. And I have zero savings, and can not pay my rent any other way. I have explicitly explained my situation to a supervisor or so at PayPal. To which I get a very vague response that eventually at no indefinite time I may receive my money back. However, I now have an eviction letter because of PayPal withholding my rent money! I can not afford a lawyer clearly at this point. What can I do?

You have to tell us more?
Did you sell something,?
Is it a high risk item?
Is there a hold on it?
Did the buyer open a case ?
How long ago did your buyer send payment?
