| Matce | 02-12-2018 06:40 PM | New "feature" Claim your money? SS needed Hey guys,
So I have somewhere between 40-50pp accounts active and just started a new one which is totally different.
I got my first payments in (sub 100USD to break it in easy) but I do not have a paypal-balance.
I only have "Money is waiting for you" "CLAIM IT". And when clicking "Claim it" it requests DOB and SS.
Option 2 is transfer to bank... but I'm obviously not linking a bank for sub-100USD.
I called PP what is going on but was told you can only have a PP-Balance after providing SS which I obviously rejected.
Anybody else have that? Any way around this?
thanks! |
Re: New "feature" Claim your money? SS needed 40-50 pp accounts ...all linked in some way? Not done in stealth manner? |
| dallis | 02-12-2018 11:06 PM | Re: New "feature" Claim your money? SS needed New to me. Somebody else will be sure to provide additional insight I'm sure. |
| SaiJin | 02-12-2018 11:50 PM | Re: New "feature" Claim your money? SS needed Well obviously that monkey you spoke too is a liar.
This is one of those soft limitations, so add an EIN number and upgrade the account to business while you are at it. See if it goes away. |
| Matce | 02-13-2018 03:08 AM | Re: New "feature" Claim your money? SS needed @rsot: of course not linked, all stealth !
@SaiJin: really dont want to get an EIN. Not sure if this a "soft" limitation. Looks like another new Paypal layout with this BS attached.
Hopefully somebody has a solution... |
| hilander1981 | 02-13-2018 07:34 AM | Re: New "feature" Claim your money? SS needed Did you try it via mobile application? |
| Matce | 02-13-2018 03:56 PM | Re: New "feature" Claim your money? SS needed All payments come from ebay sales, no invoices.
Account is FULLY verified of course. |
| phaz0rz | 02-13-2018 04:54 PM | Re: New "feature" Claim your money? SS needed So you have a VBA on the account?
IDK what's going on if you already have a VBA attached and they're telling you to add a bank account to claim money. |
| Datpiff | 02-18-2018 01:05 AM | Re: New "feature" Claim your money? SS needed This just happened to me too this is crazy! I can’t believe this I really hope this isn’t going to happen to all our accounts! |

A bank account verifies a paypal.
A vcc confirms a paypal.
‘
Tell us what you have done.
add screen shoots of the paypal message please.

Here you go http://tinypic.com/r/ups93/9
This is concerning we will aways find a way but sending money from PayPal not to bank is my favorite |
| Datpiff | 02-18-2018 02:03 AM | Re: New "feature" Claim your money? SS needed After you click claim it says add bank or keep money in PayPal If you say keep money in PayPal and then asks you for your birthday and social |

The picture of your PP account you uploaded shows it has no bank account attached, just a card. BTW you should black out identifying details next time. A PP rep could see this thread and go looking for your account.
If I'm wrong and it still wants your SSN after adding a VBA or real bank, then that's scary. That could indicate Paypal is finally making the transition to being a real bank/merch acct provider in order to make up for the losses they'll incur by eBay cutting them off in 5 years. |

| Matce | 02-19-2018 12:01 AM | Re: New "feature" Claim your money? SS needed UPDATE:
This is not a new feature, this is a back-end-problem.
Spent several hours on the phone with PP - they could not explain whats going on. Apparently a security feature going haywire.
Nothing could over-ride it and they admitted (well they are always lying anyways) that the account has no risk.
Fairly new account, fully verified with VBA and VCC, mobile confirmed, IP solid. Just got a few low-amount payments in.
SOLUTION:
Paypal closed the account for me and opened a new one (LOL).
I ran into the same issue with a second account now. Let's see how that goes.
I have 40-50 active and maybe another 30-40 agin, so far only 2 accounts showed this issue. |

Maybe requiring SS from the very beginning will become a reality... |

I kind doubt this is just a mix up why would they have a whole button coded if it was a mistake |
| nickopedia | 02-20-2018 10:19 PM | Re: New "feature" Claim your money? SS needed When creating new PP's, the funds are not placed into the normal wallet. Instead you have to select the "Claim your money" button where you are given a choice to either provide bank account or confirm SSN/DOB. If you do neither, the funds are not available to withdrawal, obviously.
This just seems to be a way for PP to get verification before allowing funds to leave the account. |

That would mean that nobody could use a paypal-balance to pay for anything without providing SS. If this would be true you might as well shut PP down - millions of users gone instantly. |

Seems as there are also a few others here experiencing the same thing as well. Any ideas? |

This just seems to be a way for PP to get verification before allowing funds to leave the account. | Makes sense to me. Seems like a reaction by PP to people using stealth accounts for fraud. They want you to either add a bank they can draw funds from or prove who you are before giving you access to money. |

All my accounts are always started with ebay-sales, so that's also not it (I think).
Again: I had this happen to a second account and got the same reply from "customer service": it's a glitch, your funds are OK, we are fixing it.
I'm opening a bunch more accounts this week, so let's see! |
| phaz0rz | 02-22-2018 08:07 AM | Re: New "feature" Claim your money? SS needed I would bet it's not a glitch, but a trial run of a new feature they're rolling out. |
| nickopedia | 02-22-2018 01:57 PM | Re: New "feature" Claim your money? SS needed I think the part is right if you already add a VBA this claim your money thing won't pop up, but I usually don't add a bank acct until after I'm sure the account is stable and taken in a little bit of money already. |

:comp5: | The same exact thing. Is a new thread really necessary if the problem is exactly the same ? |
