Thousands of people may have those 4 numbers. After all, there's only 9999 possibilities, and there are 320 million people in the US, more if you count deceased people.
Even after you add the birthdate it'll still impossible to determine if they go together with just the last 4 numbers.
PP could verify that a birthday roughly corresponds to a given SSN if they have the entire SSN, because date of birth is a component of the logarithm that creates a SSN when it is issued, as is region of birth.
There is a site that verifies SSN's, but the info is limited to 'VALID' or 'INVALID'.
Can they cross reference the SSN with the EIN? Perhaps, if they wanted to, certainly the IRS can, but PP? I think that's unlikely.
Otherwise lots of us would immediately get slapped down in the very beginning, and PP wouldn't wait for the IRS to notify them that the name/SSN/EIN don't match up. |
