Hi everyone,

I have a few stealth accounts cannot log in. I have bank accounts linked to all of them.

I contacted Paypal today. The agent told me that my account is forever blocked and I cannot take back the money.

I have $6000 USD in total. So sad. Anyone has the same experience to resolve the problem?

You need to provide a LOT more details in order to get help.

What were you selling? How old are the accounts?

I sold some regular stuff. Account 10 months old, verified by bank account. No phone number be verified.

Hi. I have the same issue. I cannot even contact them. The phone call automatically hangup. Did you solve your issue yet??

Well on the accts blocked did you have a ⊗⊗⊗⊗ SSN attached. If so you be done hun.

Unfortunately yes. they do have ssn attached. How are you so sure they are done?

If the SSN is not yours they don't have to refund your money??? Also highly illegal in US

NO I have not, but I have never ⊗⊗⊗⊗d a SSN, but have read on here that is a huge NONO and your money be a gone pecan.

Yeah, your money is gone. What you did is fraud here and they'll refuse to return any funds to you since criminal activity was involved.

Criminal? I sold some brand names stuffs that's all. There is no criminal activity at all.

I'm not trying to be harsh. I'm sure you weren't fully aware what you were getting into.

Selling brand names is fine but using the identities of US citizens isn't ok because you're creating tax liabilities for whatever identity was used to make your account.

Account got locked without SSN as well. I am still trying to figure out why. Could be my address used too many times or my PC.

when people saw SSN they will all go harsh. It is not my intention to have ssn attached. Now the ones without ssn also got into this problem. Looks like paypal is trying to keep the money for ever

Well, for one tell that agent to go **** themselves. PayPal doesn't have a legal right to permanently steal money from people. No matter what they say. Second, I'm in a similar situation only that isn't the exact response I got. But it still seems like they're making it as hard as possible to get my money. I will update if I get this resolved. Third, using stealth accounts is NOT fraud or illegal as some people have previously stated. It is a grey area of the law but is not illegal unless you use the alias to commit an actual crime. So you have not done anything illegal as far as I know. But I'll hopefully be back soon to provide you more assistance with this.

Using a SSN that isn't yours is illegal and that's what people were commenting on.

Did you using fa/ke SSN or real for spacific person? and did you hit the 200/20k to let them check your accounts?

I'm back with an update. I got the money released on both of my accounts. Here's what I did (cutting a long story short): I filed a Better Business Bureau complaint and a CFPB complaint against PayPal on these accounts. They responded to each asking for a bunch of documents to verify I was the owner of the account. On the first account, I bought docs on secondeyesolution to meet their request and sent them to the email they provided. I then had to open another complaint because they never released the money even after sending the docs. After that, the money was released. But took a long, long time to finally get the issue resolved (about 2 months total messing around with this).

On the second account, they asked for "business registration information" to verify I was the owner of the account. Which would have been impossible to provide since the business name on the account was obviously ⊗⊗⊗⊗. I actually only upgraded it to a business account because a PayPal representative told me to, that's another story. So I opened another complaint with a very long, angry message (because I was legitimately angry) about how I don't own a business so how can I possibly provide this among other things. Money was released after this but again took a very long time.

A lot of stealth accounts I've bought from people have SSNs on them already. I don't think the intent for using them is to steal someone's identity though. It's generally just a place filler when PayPal asks for it, they provide a real looking one but not one for a specific person. This wouldn't be illegal since you're not stealing someone else's SSN. Using a specific person's SSN for the purpose of ID theft is completely different. PayPal is not a bank or a government organization so providing them with false information is not illegal. Violating their terms of service is not the same as violating the law.

May want to talk that theory over with a lawyer.... I think you will find that is still very illegal
