Greendot vs. New Bank Account

I will be using the funds in my new Paypal account to live off of (groceries, gas, entertainment).

Which would be safer/easier? Trying to open a new checking account, or adding a Greendot card, and using it everywhere?

I have lost several eBay accounts, but have never been in trouble with Paypal. Thanks as always, everyone.

A new bank account is by far the easieast way to go. A greendot card is basically a bank account... but it is not a good idea to use with paypal

Bank Of America, US Bank, Chase, and suntrust work very well for me.

i agree i use bank of America FREE checking accounts and once you sign up for online banking. making new FREE checking accounts will take no more than 2 minutes with nothing to fill out because they already have all your information. all you do is click a link, click a couple of tick boxes and your done seriously. badda boom, badda bing. right now i am doing the Free checking with a savings account combo which is FREE if you maintain a $300 balance and FREE meaning no monthly fees. also remember like the walmart money card is $3 a month in fees so if you have 20 Paypal accounts thats $60 a month going out the door. even if your selling or not. bank accounts are FREE.

Also like say chase bank they just sent me a letter saying they will give me $100 just for opening a checking account and the thing is i already did this once before. so i am off again to sign up for a new chase checking account so i can get another $100. i think last time i stuck a few $100 in their bank for like 6 months and just ignored it and incurred a few fees and still made about $60 after i closed out the account. $60 of return interest on $300 for 6 months is 20%!! only at the bank of stupid will you get that return. silly rabbit tricks are for kids.... wow i can ramble.

re loadable cards are actually bank accounts... it's just a marketing tool for sub prime customers

its only an option if you have really bad credit, or owe a lot of banks a lot of money

Certain people(who provide CRAPPY details) say they've been limited while using it.
It's been suggested that they may be using the card as both a bank account, and then linking the same card as a CC, and THAT is what limits the account.
We may never know for sure :(

unfortuantemistake 04-24-2010 02:54 AM

Suntrust is the Bank Green Dot uses.

Greendot cards as of today I beleive have been banned from being used on Paypal, as that is the message I receive when trying to add my Greendot Bank Account to Paypal.

It gives me a message saying this Bank Account can not be added to Paypal, to add this Bank Account to your account please send a recent bank statement showing the 2 deposits, along with a scan of a photo ID blah blah blah.

I don't think anyone understands....

A greendot card, is a bank account. A wal mart card, is a bank account!

Why is ten too much? If you have ten greendot cards.... you have ten bank accounts, with ten account numbers.

doughboykilla 04-24-2010 09:37 AM
