asiandream | 01-01-2011 09:24 AM | Paypal and Tax for usa expats I am currently using old ebay.com and paypal usa accounts non stealth in my name while living in Thailand. Because they are in good standing and have used a long time there does not seem to be a ip address issue however I am thinking of creating a new Thailand paypal+ebay account to avoid having my ss number given to the irs. I was thinking of using my moms debit card and putting it her name as we both share a bank account here as well. I noticed that when you sign up for a thai paypal account(controlled by singapore) you must declare your nationality. If one declared as usa then even though it is an offshore paypal account would we still be made to give ss. number if approaching 20k limit? I fear this might be the case.(might have to go stealth though I was hoping to avoid it) I wonder as well about this 20k limit as I have heard they will initiate the process as soon as they believe or project you may reach that limit which could be in a short time if you are selling more than 2k per month.
My guess is that when you get near 15k watch out!
Any suggestions or ideas?=}- |
