21 day hold on funds??

So paypal is holding my funds for 21 day. This was for the first sale I made on my stealth account. Will they release it after 21 days? Don't tell me this will be for every sales. Sometimes buyers don't leave feedback then what?Pure BS

mrcvs1 04-03-2012 03:45 PM

Most new stealth accounts now start out at 21 day holds. If you want your cash sooner, ship fast and you should have your money 3 days after the buyer gets their product or sooner if they leave feedback.

rsot 04-03-2012 03:48 PM

Many threads on this - pretty random - might be on every sale, might not be...sadly it's the way pp works.

For me, its 21 days to the day. even when they leave feedback
About 1 of 3 leave me FB

I have 2 accounts with this 21 day hold

i ship every item within 24 hrs with tracking on these 2 accounts and even when it shows delivered, they hold til 21 days

these accounts are 11 months old 100% pos fb

:deadhorse:

stanislav 04-03-2012 07:06 PM

For me it's always 21 days hold, no matter if they leave feedback or not. As far as I know you have to either get 25 selling feedbacks in order for 21 days hold to go away or at least 3 month after your first sale 21 days limit should go away.

mrcvs1 04-03-2012 07:20 PM

I've had every 21 hold payment be released 3 days after they received the item(s). I guess it's random for some people.

Maybe it depends on what you sell? If you sell high risk they wont release is 3 days after someone gives you feedback. Also maybe it has something to do with price range too. If you item is expensive they would rather protect themselves with 21 days hold. Of course if you are selling something really cheap under 30 dollars they will probably release your funds sooner. But honestly I dunno... Are you using PayPal shipping labels ?

trader1510 04-03-2012 10:08 PM

I read the other threads on this subject, but its not clear that
Do they do this if sales are not thru ebay?
And if items are delivered with confirmation thru paypal, do I still need the feedback or can I get the funds released simply by calling them?

mrcvs1 04-03-2012 10:30 PM

You can call if the tracking confirmation says that it's been delivered but I don't know how Canada Paypal works. All I know is that when I ship an item and it arrives to the buyer, 3 days later I get my funds released which in total is 6 days after I ship. That in mind I ship all my items Priority Mail since all my items are over $75.

I rather lose a few bucks to get my money quick. Fortunately for me I usually double my investment even after shipping Priority Mail.

stanislav 04-03-2012 11:39 PM

I wish that was the case for us Canadians. I remember it used to be this way but so far I always get my 21 days hold. Do you think maybe because we have to actually CALL ebay? Only this way they will release our money? Do you call eBay or Paypal btw? And what kind of questions are they asking you ?

'Off ebay sales' get 'held' to be checked.

Not a given that the funds are kept 21 days. paypal does look closely at off ebay transactions.

Simple reason is that far too many users decided to make their transactions off ebay to bypass existing holds there.

Not rocket science that paypal worked this out.:heh:

Ideally payments should be from varied sources.

Sandy D 04-04-2012 12:23 AM

I am getting money released a lot sooner then 21 days recently.

And I am not getting holds on off ebay items so far.

I tested it by selling a few things on craiglists and worked like a charm.

Maybe we need to get together and figure out how we can get a stealth phone to work on CL next so we can use pp if we have to.

makaveliagain 04-04-2012 02:58 AM

Yea, it sucks on new accounts. Just be happy you can even sell. Once you build up a history with Paypal and feedback on eBay it will go away.

GTB 04-04-2012 03:08 AM

provide a brill service and hope for the best

the hold are for scammers and idiot sellers who dont care

once they determine you are a safe bet,you should get them lifted eventually

BUT, the holds can also be put in place for other reasons like high risk items, poor seller performance, too many disputes just to name a few

no seller is immune from the dreaded holds of death

azil 04-04-2012 08:21 AM

I sold a used video game as my first sale for under $30 and paypal is holding funds for 21 days hahah not even high risk item or expensive still the hold is on. I won't be shipping through paypal shipping labels so I guess my hold will last 21 days or more.

Paypal wants the buyer to have the item in hand and doesn't give jack**** about seller. Buyer will get item but I won't have my money till paypal decides.

fu paypal

GTB 04-04-2012 08:27 AM

i feel you man......or i know how you feel :boink:@GB

means the same thing!!!:ranger:

something we all got to deal with

rsot 04-04-2012 10:10 AM

Try and coerce buyers to pay via other means than pp.

I have an account that I sold nothing but non-branded products for 1 year. Finally last month I started selling only branded stuff, apple, Nike, Reebook, and much more. Suddenly after 40 of those sales I got email that 21 day holds removed. Makes no sense at all..

GTB 04-04-2012 12:03 PM

i think of it like this.....it is a reps decision to lift them!

so you mite never get them lifted or you mite get them lifted straight away

too many factors to consider to worry about it too much

the rep may be a complete psycho and press the "DONT LIFT LIMITS" button without even looking at the account lol

point being...it is pointless worrying about something that is...in the main.. out of your hands

Sandy D 04-04-2012 07:46 PM

Another thing is I am noticing in a certain category I sell in I am getting no holds on any item in that category with 7 fb.

So I listed and sold another item in a different category for 12.00 and they held it.

Now I have found a soft spot to use for feedback builders and dont have to worry about getting shipping money into accounts as I build them.

MM78 04-04-2012 07:54 PM

Update: So Ebay had decided to be gracious with my account and bump it up to 20/$1,700. I just sold 12 items and didn't bother to really check PP until I was about to add tracking number and noticed that PP also was gracious enough not to hold my funds on all 12 items. I think this could be a start of a beautiful relationship. Also those feedback makers really helped.

JohnPublic 04-07-2012 01:13 AM

"This applies to items listed and sold on eBay.com, eBay.ca, and cafr.eBay.ca"

If paypal places 21 day holds in all countries why does it state that?
