How much feedback do you need to stop the 21 day hold on PayPal??
 

I've heard 20, and I've heard 100.

Totally varies now.

It used to be past the 100 feedback thing, but now, its whenever paypal feels like it for the most part.

They even updated their conditions for removing the 21 day hold on their page -_-

Might work for some still though

If you can supply the answer to how long is a piece of string you might get the reply for the amount of feedback for avoiding the 21 day hold. :juggle:

Feedback is part of the issue, imo.

paypal is tending to look at accounts on an individual basis. They factor much more than previously.

Sellers must step up their game & operate their paypal in such a way to avoid holds.:juggle:

Can I know what are the new conditions?

In all fairness to yourself, you should read the actual words personally.

It's not realistic to have someone explain terms & conditions in case something important to you is missed.

It sems that it is automatically lifted on the eBay side once 90 days have passed since first sale regardless of feedback level, but then PayPal can reapply the holds on their side at any time after that. That is the sticking point. Robbing barstwords. :ranger:

the "lady" say that PP 21 day holds are automatically removed after 90 days from the first sale

as im new to ebay i couldnt tell her that this isnt true

Read my above post. It is correct in so far as eBay will stop instructing PayPal to apply holds, but PayPal themselves may decide to apply the holds on their own accord at any point thereafter. It could be around the corner on your first sale after the 90 days... so that you never even get to realise that eBay released you.

And this explains how when you register a "lucky egg" eBay account with no holds, the PayPal account does not automatically get them.

I think a lot of it has to do with time. I opened an account in December and listed the 10
item limit for December. Shipped everything out ASAP and got positive feedback on 4-5 of the items. January I again listed the 10 items limit. Shipped out 6 of the 10 items and my brother had an emergency in Florida that I had to attend to. I left for Florida Jan 16th also leaving about $800 in my Paypal account that I never withdrew. Some time around Valentines day I went to a library in Florida and logged into Ebay to refund the other 4 items I didn't ship for the month of January. There was a claim on 1 of the items and I refunded the other 3. I came back home to Maryland on May 16th and again listed 10 items. Sold those and received positive feedback on most of those. It seems like half the items I sold in May had the 21 day hold and the other half didn't. When I listed in June the 21 day hold was gone. I had the account for 6 months and a feedback score of only 16 and my DRS's were all 4.8 with one 4.7. I also called into ebay to try to get the selling limits raised before I listed the month of June and failed all the questions and it remained at the 10 item limit. Hope that helps... I met a girl last month and she just started letting me use her Ebay account to sell which is all 100% legit in her name. :hail: It was just a buyers account that I turned into a seller account with her credit card and bank account info. She has had the account for 2+ years with over 50 feedbacks from buying. When I listed it still started with a 10 items limit and the Paypal 21 days holds. I will keep you updated on getting the selling limits raised and the 21 day hold. I just listed 10 items on her account and immediately shipped so once I get positive feedback on all of them I am going to have her call and try to get the limits raised since it's all legit in her name.....

I also noticed that when I opened the stealth account back in December I started out with a 10 item $1000 limit and when she just turned her buyer account into a seller account with all legit info they gave her a 10 item $500 limit...

I'd like to say that the limits are also site specific.
I was selling stuff on UK eBay for over a year.
I sold in the Mobile Phone accessories category, as well as many other categories... no holds after the first 10 or so items.
Then when I started selling on US eBay, in the Cell Phone accessories category, I had the 21 day hold on all those sales.
At the same time, I had also sold on UK eBay same category and no holds.
After the first 10+ sales and after that hold period, I never got holds for selling the same things in that category again in US eBay.

Later on, I started selling on Germany eBay but not in the Mobile Phones category and I never got any holds from the first sale.
So, I think they have some sensitive categories where you may get holds for selling on an eBay site for the first time.

mine's puzzling me. so far i've sold 3 items (yeah, i'm taking it slow - ). 1st payment has cleared and is available, 2nd is being held, 3rd is available. PP was registered 2 weeks ago, verified about a week ago. any ideas?

Until the account has some 'history' this will happen.

We honestly cannot apply the UK terms to the US.

Just like with lifting the selling limits, the Hold policy is different in other countries.

I have been having good luck with these limits getting removed pretty quickly. The way i think i have achieved this was by using my phone.

Take a hit on the postage costs/ profit margin wherever possible - UK sellers, my advice is ALWAYS send everything by recorded/ signed for delivery. Its deffo worth the additional 64p (or so) per mailing... get your receipt and immediately enter the tracking number into paypal/ ebay function. This has always freed my 'holds' money instantly. To avoid the bs*** scammers claiming they never received their items in the mail, this avoids those problems and I always send by recorded if the sale is over £10.

I just noticed that as well. I have an account that normally lists on eBay.co.uk, with over 5000 all positive feedback. It never had even a single negative or a dispute, in over 2 years. I tried listing on eBay.com today and got a hold on all payments. On eBay.co.uk I still get no holds.

So, the hold is indeed site-specific. Since I never had any sales on eBay.com, I now get holds even though I have over 5000 positive feedbacks. Ridiculous.

hello! from my experience I found that if you put the item in a "high-risk" category, the money will hold 21 days.
But if you make a few purchases (3-4) for example and sell the same item in a category not considerated "high-risk" the money will not be hold.
That was my experience.

Even if you have an old account, seasoned with great feedback, and low risk items... they can decide to put the payment holds in place. It is in their hands. I think they do it randomly now to audit people. Funds are released soon after delivery anyway... if cash flow is a problem, go get a loan.

Paypal has always worked for me... no period never on hold!!
