There are one of two ways depending on how u make the account to add a bank account , and this is adding an account when it's 3 months down the line ,

I never had a problem adding a bank account the first 5 weeks after account creation,

and the next time I tried was little after 90 days and that is where

I could either accept a call from the number that was on the account and add the code that is given, or answer security questions on the account, which is hard to do

So the conclusion is you need a working number on the account and it can't be added after the problem

And it can't be put in a day or two before u know u will add a bank account, something I tested out, just won't work

It was originally a GV number. When that didnt work when trying to add BA I tried a trac phone and iphone texting app. None worked.

No work around, unless you can answer public data base questions on your stealth person , which usually is made up ,, so that is shot because no questions

U need to keep ur original number that u registered with when u made the account, if u are able to add a new number after the security issue than that would make no sense in protecting a hacked account


There has been many data breaches all over recently so paypal holds is a merchant processor and needs to be secure so , you need a solid number when making an account or add it months before a security issue

THANK YOU!! This little sentence just saved me an hour of testing.
I wish more of these posts were constructive like this one.... :-)

Also, I see a few mis understood responses. "Just keep your number ..." Well I keep all mine, GV, and this doesn't work.

Do these posts "just keep your number " mean, keep a trac phone or real cell phone number? If so I do not believe this is the answer but if someone could test this will work I would be grateful.

I am now having trouble just sending money from 1 PP to the another, with the same name on it. I normally gift money from PP1 to PP2 but now this phone confirmation thing is coming up.

This account is over 1 year old and has sold $3K in sales on EB.

Hmmm well I'm running into a problem myself. Limited account had to call to add bank. Once bank was added would not let me withdraw I lost access to the phone number n the account. The Alt was to use the app on a smartphone to withdraw guess paypal closed that loop withdraw failed.

anyone figure this out? ive run into this problem. i have an old stealth account, need to add a bank account. saying they dont recognize my computer, wants to send me a text code, but says "this phone appears not to be in your name" (stealth name). tried a prepaid phone, didnt work.
my phone number on the account is accessible, confirmed.. but not in the name of the account. so now what to do?

Apparently, still no solution. So keep the phone number (used for registration) always active remains the best practice.

Thought there was a device not recognized Solution post . About using the pp app on ur puter ? does this not work now ?
