Been a lot of this activity with paypal Australia in the last 15 days.

Few sellers are stunned about the concept.

Some never knew it could ( and does happen) to have payments held.

Re: For those getting the 21 day hold on new accounts

My first three stealths have never had holds on them. Did wonder whether they had anything to do with my set up.
On first three, i created paypal and.got that verified and confimed and then opened ebay and left it a month.
The others i did the above, but didnt wait the month and started selling right away and have holds on all of them for 21 days
Maybe i just got lucky

Re: For those getting the 21 day hold on new accounts

But ive had no limit increases on any which is frustrating that im stuck now till january 1st....unless i get an increase before then.
As others have said, i may never get an increase.
So though i might have got lucky with no holds on some, im not so lucky with the limit increase.
And given a.choice, i know which one i would prefer to have :-)

Right now holds are also for OFF ebay transactions too.
That's a new thing that started ONLY in the last 2 to 3 weeks.
Whether it depends on the bank or not is a different thing.
I'll have to try and see if anyone else has a better experience using different Banks please share.

What are you talking about? Holds are still on new accounts and alot of old accounts. If you don't have holds, then your lucky.

I wonder if this holds are temporary because of the holidays or it's something we have to deal with from now on and will it get worse? Half of my accounts got this holds, one of them got 100% rating,15 feedbacks, 100+ transactions, 100+ days old.

Re: For those getting the 21 day hold on new accounts

It wasn't luck.
I've been doing this for the last 2 years with no holds on any of my accounts OFF ebay.
All of my payment requests were sent as service (no physical items).
So automatically I had no hold on any of my transactions.
That was all fine until the last 2 weeks and it applies ONLY on the account created recently (last 2 weeks).
For new accounts, payments are getting held for 21 days (or 7 days in my case since it's a service.)

Re: For those getting the 21 day hold on new accounts

I had holds come back last month just for 5 transactions and than that was it, I haven't had any more holds placed back on eBay transactions besides a random 5 last month

I also have 5 aged PayPal accounts , my first stealth accounts , and they are over 2 years old, and I been running a lot of off paypal transactions especially this month and not one hold was placed on them, nothing more than $250 a transaction, but a few a day on each

What's nice with the old Paypal's Is I have the classic view, the true Classic view on them, not just if u see classic view on the new paypal here and there and u get a page that is somewhat like the old paypal

It looks really good the classic PayPal, there's the option to try the new paypal on top but I'm not touching it , I'll probably never get the original site back

Aged PAYPALS with no eBay accounts are very useful, and are able to do so much more than an account created just a few months ago
