ReduxRetro | 07-18-2015 04:16 PM | Now that the dust has settled, nowadays whats the best way to avoid the 21 day holds? When opening a new account (PayPal, non ebay), how do you avoid the instant 21 day holds nowadays? It appears the only way is to have an SSN and DOB that PayPal likes, so any tips there?
Also, does a personal not have these holds? Is it just business? If not, does opening as personal than converting to a business / LLC make any difference? |
jeffweico | 07-18-2015 04:25 PM | Re: Now that the dust has settled, nowadays whats the best way to avoid the 21 day ho As far as I know, ALL new PayPal accounts have a 21 day hold. But those holds go away soon enough. They just want to see that you are not committing fraud.
PayPal has a legitimate problem. How do you have a system dealing with money that is open to EVERYBODY, while avoiding becoming a target for fraud? PayPal HAS TO protect themselves! It is that simple.
Simply converting an account to a business account will not remove the holds, you still need some sales history.
If you send everything right away, use tracking and do not have buyer issues, the 21 day holds go away soon enough. |
yankee | 07-18-2015 04:28 PM | Re: Now that the dust has settled, nowadays whats the best way to avoid the 21 day ho Last I knew it was five sales. No big deal. Maybe that has changed but still, not the end of the world of it was 25. |
ebayerOG | 07-18-2015 04:30 PM | Re: Now that the dust has settled, nowadays whats the best way to avoid the 21 day ho personal vs business has no effect
5 sales + 60 days + $150 in sales |
last3379 | 07-18-2015 04:39 PM | Re: Now that the dust has settled, nowadays whats the best way to avoid the 21 day ho Did the 5 from 25 sales thing change recently?
I thought it was more than 5..
Thanks. |
slokor | 07-18-2015 04:42 PM | Re: Now that the dust has settled, nowadays whats the best way to avoid the 21 day ho I was under the impression it was:
25 sales + 90 days + $250
Is that not the case? |

Is that not the case? | That is for ebay holds.
Paypal is 5 and 60 days and evidently $150.00 for NON ebay related sales. |
ReduxRetro | 07-18-2015 05:10 PM | Re: Now that the dust has settled, nowadays whats the best way to avoid the 21 day ho Yeah I'm talking Non-eBay. And everyone saying nothing has changed is wrong -- there are new accounts being created without these holds. |

I dont create business accounts. I use personal and turn to business only if I have to later down the road because I am only using them for paypal.
You are selling a service and keep getting scammed so need the quick withdraw or spend it before the claim is filed? |

They are 100% legit but this business simply attracts a high scam rate because with PayPal's terms it's easy for them to get their money back after I've given them what they paid for. |
Mystical | 07-18-2015 08:06 PM | Re: Now that the dust has settled, nowadays whats the best way to avoid the 21 day ho Keep in mind in that besides the $150 in sales and 90 days, they now want you to confirm your identity by phone. If you no longer have access to the number when registering, then your account is permanently stuck with the 21 day hold. The other targets will not matter anymore.
It has happen to me. I am well over 150 days, still has the hold. I even had a $7 sale put on hold. Its not fun, but I learned my lesson for my next account. |

I do not have access to a single original number on any accounts I am using and have not had any issues yet. With that being said I am not opening business accounts. |

I can give you my methods, but I have not been getting any monthly limits anymore for some reason. | All times are GMT -5. The time now is 06:34 AM. | |
