use either tracfones or phone forwarding services. Refer to the book, or the search function, for carriers and details.

I don't recommend anyone give their home phone to Paypal or eBay. Get a cheap prepaid cell phone or a phone forwarding service.

PayPal does not allow mobile phones? I have PayPal account with my cell number on it since 2002 and that's the only number they have on that account.

I just had one of my PP accounts ask for the full monty. When I went to confirm location by phone (using the phone already on file - a tracfone for 2+years) I was informed that they will no longer confirm location to a cell phone.

So, no good and retroactive. Next time you have to confirm that, you'll see. Even though it worked before, the same number is not viable now.

There are still many call forwarding services work well with phone verification.

you can forward to a cell as long as you use a "valid" number. For instance, eBay.ca does not access 1-866 or 1-877 numbers. They will accept 1-800 or local numbers only.

I have my phone service generate a #that I give PP, then I assign my tracphone as the number to ring. If it comes to location confirmation, I change the info in my phone service to ring my land line. I haven't had any problems with this...

Most people are droping land lines all together.. I re-opened mine pnly so I can use it for AOL dial up, but I never use it to receive calls...
So, what would PayPal say if I tell them this is (the cell number) the only number I have? Suspend my 8 year old account? For 8 years this number was ok with them and now it's not? Somehow, I don't see this happening....

You can list a cell phone number for contact. But they will no longer confirm location to a cellular. There is a difference.

Analogy: You can pay me in paper currency for almost anything, but for bleach you must pay me in gold.

In that example, bleach equates to CONFIRMATION OF LOCATION and gold equates a land line.
